Not the best but very good, one of the gems of last generation if you ask me. Thanks to PS+ I think it got the exposure it deserved and I would probably buy an improved sequel this time.

Naw, I disagree it's not close to being a gem, more like a rock... Sega's Vanquish is way, way better than this crap. It had good graphics, great gameplay and replay value unlike binary domain(which I deleted half way through cause it was boring compared to vanquish)

ZodTheRipper4162d ago

And I didn't like Vanquidsh at all ;)
Too fast, too stressful. Binary Domain had a good story and nice RPG elements. I didn't finish Vanquish but played completely through Binary Domain.

i didnt finish either, both felt too repetetive to me. especially binary, the bosses were bullet sponges. omg dont get me started on the wierd giant robot motorcycle.

SamPao4162d ago

I finished both, love both.
But Vanquish got the throne for me, because of the replayability

What the hell kind of story was in Vanquish? Some people just have no taste. Because of PS Plus this game is a gem from last gen.

BD, was freaking awesome, all it was missing was 2 or 3 player options.

Vanquish was sick as well.

Was a decent shooter. definitely and overlooked gem.

If you google lists like hidden gems of last gen or something a long those lines this game is usually on it.

10000x this

it was really great game

The very definition of an overlooked gem. It's not without its share of problems (the voice command feature is simply horrendous) and it's not exactly original (the game is essentially Gears of War mixed with heaping spoonfuls of The Terminator, Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell and I, Robot) but it plays really well, has eye opening boss battles and a good amount of play time with lots of different game styles to take part in. Definitely deserved a better reception than it got.

I wouldn't call it the BEST action game however as Vanquish, another sorely overlooked game, definitely tops this one.

Definitely agree on the Vanquish point. Such a great game.

Think you maybe being a bit harsh on the story front. I actually think crafting an original Sci-Fi story that's engaging and unpredictable is quite an achievement.

hankmoody4162d ago

I mean, to be fair, let's look at Quentin Tarantino for instance. The man makes films by basically drawing from the wealth of films he's seen. He takes all these parts to come up with something more or less original, which works to his advantage because the films he lifts from are usually so obscure that you'd be forgiven for missing the reference. What I noticed while playing Binary Domain was that its influences were VERY obvious. There's a particular robot in the game for example that runs exactly like the robots in I, Robot and even look more or less the same. When you see the top half of the robot you just shot up dragging itself towards you with its angry glowing red eyes, there's no way you won't be reminded of the Terminator.

Really wasn't trying to be harsh but I do see your point. Besides, the game still manages to be somewhat unique by cobbling together all these pieces to form a whole and still winds up entertaining.

Wow! So much love for the game, yet it sold really REALLY badly. I don't understand.

hankmoody4162d ago

Chalk it up to advertising, one of the main reasons why Platinum Games titles always seem to undersell, regardless of how amazing they are. It's really a shame when a great title gets undermarketed or just marketed poorly altogether.

crofterz4162d ago

Vanquish, El Shaddai, Wonderful 101 (partly down to bad WiiU marketing) Bayonetta. Am I the only one seeing a pattern emerging here ..?

I loved this game! Choosing a multi national squad each with their strengths and weaknesses was really cool. While the voice recognition was a novelty that wore off a little quick it was still a nice addition. In fact the only weakness the game had imo was it's box art. In fact its the only game I have where I opted for a custom cover over the standard one.
