Sony "investigating" PlayStation 4 error CE-34878-0 that corrupts save files

PS4 owners who experience the mysterious CE-34878-0 error have reported finding their saves corrupted for some of the platform's biggest games.

"We are aware of the cases and we appreciate your patience while we investigate," a Sony spokesperson told Eurogamer.

Question:
This corrupts game saves on the system, what if you backed up your saves to the cloud service? All PS+ subscribers have this option, are those online saves being effected to?
If I had a corrupt or lost save file I'd just recover my last uploaded save from the cloud. At least you wouldn't have to start from scratch :/

I would think that your cloud backed-up saves would alright. I could be wrong though, the article didn't mention if the corruption was limited to your HDD or SSD.

My Battlefield 4 single player progress keeps disappearing. Anyone have the same issue? Might possibly be on EA's end too.

That's all ea. that's been happening from day one . I've played the first mission 4 times. Finally gave up.

Yeah all you can hear from the first mission is Recker do this Recker do that. Its like you keep playing just a demo with no progress at all. But there is a solution my friends. Read my last post below about the cloud saving, and playing BF4 offline.

Battlefield 4 is the issue, that game has been messed up since day one !

Same here but here is a solution to that. Play Battlefield 4 single player with cloud saves on, or play it offline. I recommend offline more, because when you get to the level Old Town, the game gets an error for some reason. Then you see a error feedback message come up. This happened to me.

I will copy/paste my solution :

I had problem with BF4. I just playing the game and suddenly this error! And was repeating again on the same level ( checkpoint ). But that's a BF4 issue. No problem with Killzone, Resogun, Knack....

But no problem with that. Solution is :

Upload the save file on PS+ cloud ( just in case ). Delete the game entirely. Sign out of PSN, disconnect the PS4 from network, install the game again and play ( without sing-in on PSN and connect the PS4 on internet ). When you cross this problematic checkpoint or level, connect to network and download the latest patch available again and continue play the game.

It's BF4, same thing happens on the PS3. It's the poster child for how not to release a game.

Play BF4 with automatic cloud backup saves disabled. Manually back it up to the cloud when you know your local save is good.
It's a pain in the butt, but worked for me though after I kept loosing campaign progress.
It could work for other games too I should imagine.

I haven't had this issue, but I don't play it much. I'm still annoyed at the inconsistent share feature. It rarely works properly, and saves videos of gameplay from like an hour earlier, or saves no vids at all. A new patch needs to come out already, it seems the OS was really not complete at launch. Both systems seem to have been released too early. I'm a little regretful now that I got a PS4 this early, I should have waited until atleast the 2nd internal design was implemented. We are basically beta testers.

Only save games I got corrupted so far are from BF4 when I crash in MP sometimes. Not sure why the game writes to the save file in MP tough. Luckily I have auto upload set to on so I can just grab the save from the cloud whenever that happens.

My Assassin's save is corrupt and I was more than half way through. I don't have the time to do it all over. I really think it's the operating system unless Ubisoft is having issues on their end..

I haven't had any corrupt saves other than Betafield 4, but I do occasionally get an error uploading save files.

Even I gotta agree that it was rushed, it's missing features that were shown when first announced, their own brand headset doesn't work not too mention the ps3 can do some basic functions it can't. All this coming from a proud ps4 owner. And this is very unrelated but what the hell is up with Sony and their crunchyroll app?

I had something like this happen with my ps3 slim, it corrupted the hard drive and I lost easily over 1000 hours of gaming progress. Things like this are why the cloud save backup for PS+should be free for everyone.
