I would add a couple games including Tales of the Abyss. While this is a remake of a PS2 game, it's amazing on the 3DS. If you missed it on the PS2, like me, pick it up. It's an amazing JRPG. The story is really enjoyable and the combat is amazing. This game has made me buy so many other Tales games.

Luigi's Mansion and MH3U are really fun games as well. I have spent about 150 hours on MH3U between the Wii U and the 3DS versions. It's nice being able to transfer the save data between the two systems. Monster Hunter games are just so in depth and addictive. At first I hated it, but after about five hours, it really caught me. I couldn't just rush the monster and expect to survive. I had to study the patterns of my target and stock up properly before each fight. Just an incredible game.

My last suggestion is a cheap downloadable title. That title is Gunman Clive. It's a fun sidescrolling shooter. While the game is only about an hour long, it only costs $2. I personally have played through the game three times, so I believe I got my money out of the game.

I plan on joining the ranks soon. Any game recommendations?

Fire Emblem. Good god get your hands on that gem. Luigis mansion and Resident evil are graphical powerhouses in your hands. Animal crossing is cute, but inevitably run out of things to do.
Tom Clancy's game was fun. Like turn-based GI Joe. Overall there have been some great offerings.
I own about a dozen 3ds games, but I don't want to overwhelm you.

Definitely get Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Then:
Super Mario 3D Land
LoZ: A Link Between Worlds
Bravely Default
Ocarina of Time 3D
Star Fox 3D
Resident Evil: Revelations
Monster Hunter 3
Luigi's Mansion 2
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

I hear the new Pokémon games are great, but I haven't played them (never played any Pokémon games). Getting through all of the above should keep you plenty entertained. It truly is a marvelous little machine.

Pokemon X,Zelda ALBW and Animal Crossing. There is too many great 3DS games to list to be honest.

I just picked up a 3DSXL last week. I have the Mario and Luigi Dream Team Bundle Edition.

Just finished Mario and Lugi: DT and loved it. It's so great to play another Mario RPG, I'm still waiting for Super Mario RPG 2 ( I wants this )

I also picked up Fire Emblem and the game is just pure awesome written all over it.

Planning on picking up Bravely Default, Rune Factory 4 and Luigi's Mansion & Zelda: ALBW.... probably in the next few months.

Nicely done. My favorite entry next to 8/9.

Zeldafan6411d ago

My second favorite after 3 and just ahead of 8.

FullmetalRoyale11d ago

When I played this game I was in disbelief that I had somehow not played this franchise. I absolutely adored this game, and have since played two other entries. Been saving the two on 3ds. Next entry is easily a day one purchase.

I had the same man, the goofy aesthetics always kinda prevented me from trying it, but boy was I wrong.

Keep 12 turn based for christ sake

Me too after the comments a few years ago. Hopefully the success of recent ones changed their idiotic thinking

Melankolis11d ago

Good. Prefer 4-7 with DS & PS1 graphic though, modest yet stimulating imagination.

Only DQ game i've ever played and one of the best games I've ever played , such a great experience . I wonder if the original ps4 release was included in these sales

RedDevils10d ago

Go play 8 if you like this one.

Miraak82 10d ago

i actually bought DQ8 on ps2 back in the day but mainly for the FF12 demo disc lol . I tried it but there were sooo many rpgs to play at the time that I think I played it for for a little bit before trading it in , maybe if they come out with a remaster/remake I'll try it out again
