Microsoft appeals EU antitrust compliance fine of $1.39 billion

Microsoft has appealed an €899 million ($1.39 billion) fine levied against it by the European Commission for failure to comply with an 2004 antitrust ruling. The software giant is asking the Court of First Instance to overturn 488 days of fines levied by the EC for not living up to the Commission's insistence that Microsoft fully document and license its server protocols at reasonable rates.
