Joystiq writes:'When fans debate which of their plentiful wells Nintendo will be returning to for their next big title, Kid Icarus is always a popular suspicion. Now, IGN's Matt Casamassina has basically confirmed that it's on the way to Wii. On episode 7 of the IGN Nintendo Voice Chat podcast Casamassina says, "Of course [Nintendo is] going to have some E3 surprises. You know, Kid Icarus, for crying out loud, how many times do we have to say Kid Icarus? Kid Icarus is coming for crying out loud." '
BY FRANKLIN: When putting together a list of the best remakes and remasters for modern consoles, I started thinking about many of the classic games that also deserve remakes. Some more popular games been re-released on digital platforms or ported with no updates to the original game, but a direct port is not as satiating as a remake. These games deserve to be remade from the ground up, or at the very least have a graphical refresh.
These are 6 classic game remakes that we want to see in 2023.
Nah. New games or gtfo. You want to play Super Mario RPG? Hop on archive and download it.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic already has a remake coming, though it has had a rough development moving from Aspyr Media to a Saber Interactive studio it is still set to come to PS5 and PC.
I will gladly take remasters and ports of older games, would love a remake of Link to the Past in the same style as Link's Awakening, I'd also love a remake of Super Mario RPG.
From the Underworld to Skyworld.
Crazy. Remember buying this game and firing it up. And the catchy music. So many years ago.
Still waiting on that new icarus announcement.
Immortals:Fenyx rising really showed wt a icarus game could look like
Immortals: Fenyx Rising has made several fans hope for a revitalization of a very similar Nintendo title.
I'll believe it when Nintendo says it. Hopefully they make it hard though because the nes game was dang near impossible
Kid Icarus is one of the most incredible games on the NES, and perhaps of all time. So many great memories from that game, and I had been crying for another iteration of that story and game. However, now that it may be coming back...well, I'm not totally sure that I want it to. I almost liked the idea of it being that one amazing game, which didn't need a sequel. In the age of so many sequels and remakes in movies, games, and everything...it starts to become refreshing to see something great only be made once. Kid Icarus is one of those awesome franchises that never became "exploited".
So, I have mixed feelings.
If true no matter how good the game is, certain individuals will still hate on it for
a) not being new IP
b) not having mature themes
c) not looking as good as it could have on the PS3 or 360
IF ITS TRUE, that is. I have always been a fan of the Kid. I think this would be one of looooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooongest follow ups to a game the industry has ever seen, showing up 22 or 23 years later than its predecessor. Hope no one held their breath for the sequel because they wont be alive to see the return(possibly) of Pit.
XD
I wonder if it will attract younger gamers who have only heard of Icarus as a character in Super Smash Bros.
Now that I'm in my mid-30's I find the Nintendo library no longer appeals to me - I never even finished Zelda Twilight Princess on the 'Cube.
I think the same is true for many current gamers who cut their teeth on the Atari and NES - we prefer more mature content.
What I'm saying is that this will be essentially a new IP because it will be a completely new audience. I have full confidence that Nintendo will make a great game that will do well - it just won't be as easy of a sell as Metroid or Zelda.
