PS4 and Xbox One: It Won’t Be Long Before Graphics Actually Look Next-Gen

The PS4 and Xbox One have some sharp-looking games, but those launch titles aren’t setting the world on fire. Sure, the new Killzone and Dead Rising look better than previous entries, but not enough to justify the price of a new console for many gamers. Thankfully, better-looking games are just over the horizon.

Ryse, Quantum Break, Infamous, and Killzone all look great, but we haven't seen anything running in real time thats on "The Dark Sorcerer" level. Hopefully we won't need to wait too long.

Ryse doesnt look impressive. Well unless you only play Xbox because y'all Xbox players ain't used to good graphics. No 360 exclusive looks better graphically then any PS3 exclusive. And I'm sure that will continue this gen as well. Ryse looks decent,Forza looks ok but it was downgraded from when it was first shown and GT6 on PS3 looks just as good,and DR3 looked horrible.

yeah, no kidding, like so far, the line up of games that look graphically "next gen" are Killzone: Shadow fall, Ryse, Quantum Break, The Order, Infamous: Second Son, The Division...but thats about it, nothing that we have actually seen so far other than those games really shouts "next gen" :s

I game on both ps4 and a very high end pc. Only nba 2k14 looks very good to me. Bf4 is quite pixelated and killzone doesn't have a very good draw distance and colours look quite washed out

I guess the author of the article hasen't played BF4 on PS4, especially the SP and then looked at the PS3 version side by side.

The technical graphical differences are massive.

The author also has to remember not all developers target the best graphics they can, especially with ports.

It's more the sentimental value for me. Me and PS3 been through so much since launch. It's lasted longer than 2 cars, 4 house moves, 1 Dog and 3 relationships. I was rooting for PS3 during the hard times of 2007-late 2008.

I know it seems silly, but I just don't want to see her retired. I love my PS3 in the strangest way. I've mixed feelings about the future and PS4. Kinda excited and sad all at the same time ;/

bf4 looks pretty damn good. not sure how it looks on last gen consoles but on the ps4 its solid. Cod is pretty crisp but other than that its not a big jump. Nba2k is pretty sick looking.

Why does everyone think that NBA 2k looks so amazing? Let me educate you on something. The player models on 2K are horrible except on the "Superstar" players everyone else looks like last gen. The Lighting is amazing but that is about it

The games that are out on xbox one and ps4 are transitional games. That means that they're a hybrid of current gen and next gen technology. They're not pushing the envelope yet in terms of graphics, animations and physics. All of that will come later on when they've had more time with the hardware.

Look at GTA IV compared to GTA V running on the same exact console. If that much of a massive leap can be made on current gen hardware, I can't wait to see what they truly do with next gen hardware.

WiiU is fully custom developers and Nintendo themselves don't know how far wiiu will go in graphics....the other 2 are designed to be maxed out easy.

The easy route never pays off in the long run.
