Top 12 Must-Buy Games Coming Out in 2014

Getting bored of playing just Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, and World of Warcraft? There are loads of stellar games coming out in 2014 for both PC and gaming consoles. This list reveals the must-have titles that are releasing this year.

ESO will be Flop of the Year. The list is also sorely lacking GOTY 2014 The Witcher 3. Infamous should also be listed since it looks like the first true next gen game.

And where is the author getting his info about Halo from? Definitely not Halo 5? (Though a version of the trailer that said Halo 5 at the end was posted on the Xbox Facebook Page) Major Improvement? I would love that after the travesty that was Halo 4.

The BIG question for me is. After you purchase your game does it require a
1. Monthly subsidy (how much)?
2. Series of upgrades to compete(how much)?
3. Do you have to pay for gaming updates/maps (how much)?

Guess the gaming subsidy landscape may be changing & no ones talking.

You used "subsidy" wrong in there (Sorry, I'm only complaining about that since it would have just been much simpler for you to have just said "Subscription"), and number 1 kind of lives together with number 3 (Every MMO I've ever played offers any sort of DLC to subscribers free of charge, mostly anyways).

But other than that, I definitely agree. ESO should not be on this list for example.

Well 4 of the 12 games are must haves. Halo 5, Titanfall, Watch dogs, and Destiny.

Destiny definitely. Halo? Eh. That franchise has seen better days. Titanfall? I love a good FPS but I feel like the genre is starting to burn people out. Watch Dogs looks interesting, though.

Not sure its really a fanboy per se. Most of the games are multiplatform. Only, what, 3 are MS exclusives? Plus the majority of those games will run & look better on PS4 than X1. I think the article just hits on the majorly hyped titles is all.

Well there are several awesome looking MMOs coming out. Plus the next-gen consoles are begin swarmed with MMOs trying to branch out beyond PC so it's a bit to be expected.

True. But arguably the greatest gaming experiences comes from Single-Player games though they may not be as replayable as MMO's are of course.

If I had the money I would buy the order but it is a single player only experience so it's more of a rental but I would like to support ready at dawn and sony with my money

I actually think Destiny and Elder Scrolls Online will be.. disappointing. Elder Scrolls was great because of its single player exploration nature, and mods -- it wouldn't make a good MMO, so they're gonna have to change too much to make it fly -- and then it won't be Elder Scrolls anymore. Destiny.. just sounds like Firefall, only made by Activision, so it'll cost a truckload to subscribe to (you know Activision is trying to supplement WoW income), and will probably severely lack content. I actually think Bungie is overrated as a dev, as well. I think they lucked out with the Halo design, and have been riding on that wave for years, thinking they're the shiznit, when in fact, they're just lucky. A large number of the people who created Halo in the first place are long since gone to other studios.

I AM looking forward to PlanetSide 2 on my PS4 though, as well as Project Spark on the XB1 and Watch Dogs on whichever platform seems to provide the best experience. PS2 is a proven good shooter experience on the PC, Project Spark will just be loads of creative fun, and Watch Dogs is shaping up to be my must-have single player game for next year.

Right now for me, X, Bayonetta 2, Super Smash bros, Mario Kart 8 and Watch Dogs are my must buys.

If I can manage to get a new PC or maybe even a Steam Machine this year, I'd definitely go for Witcher 3 and a few other things.
