Just because PS4′s here doesn’t mean it’s over for PlayStation 3 in 2014. In fact it might actually be a good thing as next-gen ideas and tech filter down on to Sony’s old faithful. With that in mind here’s Official PlayStation Magazine’s 10 best 2014 PS3 games.

Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2 is looking epic, can't wait to pick that up. LRFFXIII demo was surprisingly fun, but i can see it being a bargain bin game pretty quickly, so i'll wait on that.
Destiny looks amazing, but i can't see it running well on the old consoles without a significant downgrade, i rather wait until i buy a PS4 and experience the game at 100%.

Seeing this list makes me glad I went with Xbox. I'd say 2015 will bring some great ps4 and xclusives though

fattyuk4168d ago

So PS3 is better than the Xbox one?

Correct.

MysticStrummer4168d ago

Seeing your comment makes me glad you went with XBox.

Good to see all the people who didn't jump into the next gen still have great games to look forward to.

It's not yet confirmed that the western release will be for 2014. It's winter 2014 in japan, and Atlus rarely releases games worldwide in the same quarter, just look at how long it took for Catherine to be released in the west...

Me too. Best console EVER! I've had almost all of them ever since MSX and commodore 64 and PS3 is by far the best gaming I have ever done.

Ah, MSX:) Cool machines back in the 80's. Funny they were build by many companies worldwide, East and West. Bought a Philips VG8020 when I was 10, programming your own games using listings in magazines, playing the original Konami cartridges like Metal Gear, the original Ys games. Good memories.

Youp and gotta love those loading crashes and times when starting up a game from a c-casette drive. It took like 10-20 minutes to start a game and once it failed (like 45-70% at a time) you had to start all over again. LOL!

Hearing complaints about games like TLOU for example really shows how spoiled and entitled some of these new gamers are who started with a PS2 or something. They have NO IDEA what is a long load time or a sub par game. It sure was a hit or a miss buying games using only the artwork on the cartridge as merit lol! Oh and the price...OOOOOOH the price of the games was so extreme. Propably around 100-150 dollars each.....

Why Dark Souls 2 Deserves a Second Chance in 2025

As difficult and frustrating as it is, people should consider reliving the Dark Souls 2 experience, especially because of what's coming to the game.

Many of those who hate Dark Souls II hate it because it's not Dark Souls. The same people love Dark Souls III because it isn't Dark Souls II.

And so many of the issues at the centre of common complaints about DS2 are present in DS3 and sometimes even DS1. The hatred and bile spewed over this perfectly decent game is ludicrous.

I don’t think it’s a terrible game, but like a movie sequel by a different director, for me, it does NOT capture any of the “magic” felt from the Miyazaki entries. Boss battles don’t feel epic, environments don’t have the same sense of awe, the enemy variety isn’t particularly interesting, the art direction just feels bland, about the only thing I can give it praise for is some of the music.

Now, again, this is only how I feel about it, so I’m not trying to invalidate his you feel about the game, but it is the worst entry in the series due to those factors and it’s the least re-visited entry, for me.

Is it decent as a game on its own? Sure. But in comparison to the Miyazaki entries, it does not stack up and I believe that’s where many were disappointed with it.

Completely fair. I cannot disagree either, mate.

You can also play it in VR flawlessly on PC & controller with the LukeRoss mod so… another reason to jump back in with extra immersion.

It’s not a bad game it’s just not as good as the others

Shadow Man20d ago

The controls felt very clunky to me, I tried playing it after beating Darksouls 3 and it didn’t feel fluid, obviously the hit detection is less superior for been an older game.
