I think the reality of it is that in the gaming industry anything can happen. Look at the PS3 when it launched. I still love watching how to kill your brand, a parody music video concerning how bad the PS3 was.

I for one just bought a Wii U and I also plan on buying a PS4 so while it is not my primary gaming platform, Nintendo can count on gamers like myself to by its games. :)

2. Judging by launch sales, the Xbox One is far from "hated". It has sold very well. Yup, Microsoft made a lot of idiotic mistakes regarding the One, but they backtracked on most, if not all, of them, and despite what a minor but very loud segment of gamers may tell you on the internet, the average joe is buying the One and enjoying it.

That is the benefit of being everywhere like Nintendo is. Once a game becomes popular, it's usually popular in every region and almost always boosts console sales.

These comments are completely based upon the VGChartz numbers, which I know many people (including myself) take with a grain of salt.

That being said, it is interesting that the WiiU outsold the XB1 globally. Looking at the bigger picture for MS, think that the only thing keeping MS in the "game" is the U.S. The 360 continues to sell in the U.S., while it is not moving many units in the rest of the world, being outsold by the PS4 and the PS3 worldwide. In the U.S. (for some unknown, unfathomable reason), the 360 is still outselling the PS3! But, even in the U.S., the XB1 is behind both the PS4 and the XB360. What does this say about the XB1? It has been in stock, without fail, for the past 2 weeks on Amazon while the PS4 sells out as soon as Amazon lists it. My local Gamestop, BestBuy and Target all have XB1s, but not a PS4 in sight. They sell out as soon as inventory comes in. And this is the holidays! What happens after the new year? Does MS have a chance? As stated above, it appears (based upon these numbers, as well as anecdotal evidence) that without the U.S., MS would be dead in the water.

You can say it that way, but everyone with a little market knowledge knows, that Xbox never really sold on Japans turf, so basically, all are launched on the important markets, of their respective plattform, only Sony needs to release its console in Japan, because that too, can have an immense impact.

Yes, but that's really seeing this through some pink glasses. WiiU isn't dead yet. That's all you can take away from this. It has an advantage in Japan because there isn't any next gen console released there (not that I expect the XO to make a dent there, but PS4 sure will). And it really needs the Japan sales to at least be competitive with the XO - and still can't beat the other consoles (PS4/3/360). I can't see how that's so great. WiiU will live like the GC did, eventually. For $199 it would actually make a nice secondary console.

The PS4 and the "bone" cost slightly more than a wii u but offer a 500GB hdd (vs 32), 8GB RAM (vs 2GB), and a bluray player (wii u doesnt have so if you want to watch a bluray movie you got to spend an extra $100).

Does the wii u offer cross game chat? Amazing 3rd party games? Cloud storage? Play as you download? Remote download? Account access from multiple cosnoles? Voice commands? USB 3.0?, Live streaming? 4K support? A cloud gaming service which is soon to come? Non-region lock?

Does it have AMAZING unique 1st party and 3rd party IP's (im talking about new ip's not mario,zelda,pikmin,pokemon,etc .)

All of these AMAZING features both hardware wise and software wise for only an extra $100 or so.

I hope the bone and the PS4 destroy. I STILL WANT NINTENDO IN THE CONSOLE INDUSTRY BUT THEY MUST LEARN THEIR IGNORANT AND STUBORN MISTAKES WHICH THEY HAVE COMMITED TO.

Tell me how cloud storage, remote download, voice commands, USB 3.0, or play as you download make better games? You pretty much described everyone's computer. All I need is for my PS4 or Wii U to play great games and so far so good. And FYI it does do streaming, it's called Netflix and it does have a blu-ray drive in the system, Nintendo didn't purchase the licensing for it to play back movies.

2. I dont exactly know, what you mean by cross game chat, but I can chat with friends, while in a game, just push the home butten and open the chat.

3. It now offers Account access from multiple accounts, they never said they would not offer it, they just needed time and now it has it.

4. It offers the most important 3rd Party games, like AC or Watchdogs or CoD and many will come back soon, just watch.

5. Who cares for voice commands, that a mere gimmick, but nice to act like it is something special, just because Xbox offers it^^

7. 4K Support^^ Because of not one of the next gen games on the next gen console offer native 4K resolution and basically struggle to bring 1080p, I couldnt care less, a TV with 4K can upscale it just as good, so whats the point?

8. It doesnt need a cloud gaming service, because it is compatible with older gen games, that is actually one of the main reasons, why Sony and Xbox offer cloud gaming, so that they can offer their old games.

9. I give you region lock, but I exclude it again, because of the Spycam on Xbox.

10. They offer a lot more good first party games, then all of them together (besides PC, I just love RTS). Truly now, all you guys can actually really complain about, is horsepower (graphics), but then, even these arent that bad, as many act like.

11. I can download patches and all, while playing.

And can your console actually use any PC keboard attached to it? Because Wii U can do that, even though it wouldnt need that, because of the Touchscreen Controller.

Likely, most gamers with any desire for positive growth and good trends in the industry would rather than. If it were an either/or situation, you can bet your ass there are more gamers out there that would rather have Nintendo be the one to survive than Microsoft.

Being blunt, Microsoft has contributed far less to the industry than Sony or Nintendo. At the same time, more of the things they HAVE done in the industry can be considered negative.

Uncharted?? I would be surprised if that games shows up before holiday of 2015. Order 1886 has not been confirmed for 2014 either. Right now its mostly Infamous and Driveclub(exclusives) for early 2014. Who knows what else will show up during the rest of the year

The first two helped it to an astounding early lead, but the last one may well see it in third place when all is said and done. It was often disregarded in sales talks because it catered to to casuals primarily, and because it wasn't an HD console. Outside of that, it was counted just like anything else.

From what I've seen, Wii U has been selling well now. My Walmart had none left from what I could tell, same with the 3DS XL's and Ps4's.

It's good to hear though. People could say the Wii U's been out for a year and is cheaper, of course I'm sure that added to sales, but Xbox One is still new and usually new things during the holidays sell better, so it's still bit surprising. and then you bring in how many people predicted the worst for Nintendo this holiday.. this kinda is an accomplishment if you ask me, Nintendo proved they could sell consoles.

That's how the charts have looked for years. In fact, that's a generous bump from the week prior, where Xbox only sold 500 consoles in the entire country. Doesn't matter if X1 is released there or not. In fact, I'm surprised they're even bothering at all.

I believe the sales, it's only when nintendo is doing bad then the media believes the charts. the wii u is just getting started, wait until, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros, and Donkey Kong tropical freeze, it will continue to sale!!

Good job Nintendo. Now I want to see what happens with the Youtube, Fan based commercial. I have been saying for over a year, your fans can do a better job marketing your system than you have done.

I am really hope more gamers jump on board and pick Wii U up, there are just a ton of great games for the system now.

The skylanders 8gb bundle and the 32gb bundle with Nintendo land are both $249.
The Zelda wind walker and Mario-luigi bundle are both $299.

I'm PS4 all the way and have both other consoles but come on, xbox one has sold half of the wii u's 1st year numbers in a month and 8 days. Titanfall will help boost those numbers. I'm anxious too see if they do a limited edition system for super smash bros. I'll buy another wii u if it has the roster decorated on it ha.

Someone might want to tell the author the definition of "sold out" ....I understand that here and there XB1s and PS4s become available....but they aren't on the selves like Wii U's. Fanboys need to quit coming up with unfair comparisons in order to "prove" that XB1 sucks. The bottom line is that when XB1s become available they disappear and leave a dust cloud....they are selling as fast as they become available and by all legitimate sources are right behind PS4 in total sales (most cases tied if you account for the extra week that PS4 was out). I honestly wasn't expecting it to be this close until NEXT Christmas when kids that got PS4s this Christmas said they want an XB1 too (or when Titanfall drops). I'm honestly surprised it's already this close....

You know how many negative Wii U articles have been posted over the last year? Do you know how many unfounded attacks Nintendo fans have had to endure over the last year? Do you have ANY IDEA how much bigotry, hatred and bias Nintendo fans are exposed to on a regular basis on gaming sites?

You don't have to defend the Xbox like it's your baby. Especially with excuses like "Xbox is sold out" when it's not. Go to Amazon right now they're available. If people want them, they can get them ok. Actually the only thing I on the shelves are Xbox Ones collecting dust. My wife was at Toys R Us today getting the kids another WiiU and was lucky enough to grab the last one ( two other people grabbed 2 just ahead of her, she almost missed out) I asked her how was the PS4/Xbox One stock, she said the PS4s were sold out and they had plenty of Xbox Ones. While I was at Walmart today, the only "Next Gen" console they had was the Xbox One.

3DS outsold the PS4, Xbox One and Vita. Oh, and by the way, that's COMBINED. Yeah, 3DS outsold all three of those consoles combined, and Wii U, while not selling the most, has topped the Japanese hardware charts 4 weeks running now, right under the 3DS, and outsold the Xbox One globally last week.

Any way you slice it, alot of people's credibility is about to be shot. All those Nintendo hating pre-teens that think it's cool to trash Nintendo and the Wii U, and all the journalists and media that play into that immature mindset for clicks...

I respect a mature gamer. Not mature as in "I play Battlefield on my next gen console and Wii U sucks lol". That is the antithesis of maturity. I'm talking mature as in "actually past puberty and has common sense- enjoys games regardless of console". There aren't too many gamers out there right now that fit into THAT category.

Please, grow up people. You don't look cool when you trash Nintendo. You look like a jaded 12 year old who allows the internet to form your opinions. Xbox and Playstation are legit consoles with some great games. But so is Nintendo. Stop letting your adolescent friends tell you how to think and go buy a Wii U or 3DS and see for yourself why so many people love their games.

Lol! Doesn't surprise me. Wii U and PS4 are selling better bc they have better value and are designed specifically for gaming. That's what gamers want, and that's what they're gonna buy. I dot think the average person looking for living room
Entertainment is gonna buy an Xbox One, especially since M$ puts services they don't even own behind a paywall, like Neflix. You can access the netflix app for free on everything else, except xbox of course. Heck in my opinion, the PS3 is the best bang for the buck when it comes to overall entertainment. Free online, all the latest entertainment apps available for free, and you can buy one for cheap!

well, in Canada they had the 299.99 for 249.99. It was on Christmas's Boxing Week. 150.00 less than PS4, and 250 less than X1.

But i know the ps4 is still hasnt fulfilled its pre orders in Australia and are booked out in most retailers until april.

And the retailers displaying ps4 boxes in Australia are simply just advertising the fact you can preorder from them

I don't know about Australia, but there are loads of them sitting on shelves here in the States.
