If you’re high on nostalgia, and are looking for the best Sega Genesis games you can play right now, here’s a comprehensive collection of the titles you should consider.
double dragon was nes.
Thank you! I saw that and was like, WTF is this? lol
home alone, 007, CONTRA, HOOK.
Swap Sonc 2 for 3 and Knuckles, and add these to honorable mentions: Beyond Oasis Eternal Champions Mortal Kombat Landstalker Out of this World
Sonic 2 was a bit better than 3 imo. I prefer more linear style platforming and Sonic 3 was very open. Great list though; especially Eternal Champions and MK. They were easily the in the top 5 best fighting games for the system.
I loved Dynamite headdy also, everyone seems to have forgotten it? There's some great games in that list. Oh Kid Chameleon was awesome.
Nice list, needs some Shinobi action though. I was just reading an article about games that turn 10 in 2014, meanwhile Aladdin and Gunstar Heroes just hit 20.. now how's that for feeling old?
Which do you think N4G? Sega vs SNES versions of Jurassic Park. Both were two totally different games. Oh and give it up for Cool Spot!
Jursassic park on the Megadrive was an excellent game. Never played the Snes version so I can't compare.
SNES version was a top down adventure until you went into a building, then it was an FPS. Genesis version was a contra style shooter where you could be humans or raptors.
Jurassic Park Rampage edition for Genesis was the best.
Cool Spot was definitely an excellent platformer. With that an Aladdin, Virgin made some great games back in the day.
NBA Live 95, Kid Chameleon, Flashback, and ton more. What a great console Genesis was. Remember the Sega Channel? Fun Fun Fun
No Earthworm Jim? Revenge of Shinobi > Shadow Dancer Strider Comix Zone X-Men
Yes! Comix Zone, X-Men, and Shinobi 3 were all great games!
Quack shot!!! How have they missed that and yet put the inferior street fighter 2 on the list everyone knows the SNES was where street fighter was played back in the day! ;)
This list needs Quackshot.
Gunstar Heroes for me is the best game of the Genesis SO EPIC MUSIC GAMEPLAY AND BOSS FIGHTS!
The Megadrive was great for Disney platformers. The Megadrive Aladdin captured the spirit of the film very well. Castle of Illusion was popular, so much that there has been a remake. However the original Megadrive game could be tough. World of Illusion was slightly more forgiving and , although it was arguably less of a 'pure' platformer, it was more mysterious and had a greater variety of level designs, most noticeably playing homage to the likes of Alice in Wonderland but also featuring original ideas (the underwater level, for example, resists any temptation to tie it in with The Little Mermaid. Instead it's as if you're invited to draw your own conclusions as to what to make of each setting). But Quackshot manages to be memorable as well. It arguably has more of a pure platformer feel than World does but it is also beautiful and slightly quirky in its own way. World of Illusion is still the quirkiest MD Disney game and should be played but so should Quackshot because some of its gameplay devices are lovely. The difference between MD Disney games and SNES ones is that SNES ones tended to be entirely different ones from Capcom. Overall, I take the Megadrive games as being more interesting and true to the dark mysteriousness of Disney lore whereas the SNES games are more straightforwardly child friendly.
