Nintendo issued a statement Friday regarding online connection problems users are having with the eShop, saying they're are limiting access time in different regions to improve server performance.
Argh Nintendo... I know this isn't your fault per se, but you guys REALLY have to step up your online services in just about every way...
Can you explain? I'm actually curious. I've found that their online multiplayer is actually great, but of course, there are very few people on AC and CoD. That's not necessarily their fault. The only things I can think of at the moment are party chat, achievements, and more online integration. Other than that, it's great. I'm really enjoying Miiverse and video chatting with friends.
The fact that you will lose all of your digitally bought games if you ever lose your system... Their Eshop is a mess on the 3DS at least. Speaking of the Eshop, why don't we have SNES and GBA games on the 3DS yet? They have limits on how many times you can play a demo. Like you said, no party chat or achievements. They have a LOT of areas to improve on. I love Nintendo and their games, but it's ridiculous how behind they are on the online front.
@Snookies I can agree with you on a lot of that. If my Wii U was broken, I would have to contact Nintendo and who knows what they'd give me in compensation. Nothing? An eShop card? Also, the 3DS eShop WORKS well, but I personally find it too hard to navigate. Same with Miiverse on 3DS; these things don't seem to work as well as they do on the Wii U. However, on the Wii U, I see them trying to improve. They're bringing lots of new features and services, and I commend them for that. But, as you said, there are still areas that need improvement.
I can get on now. I'm glad it didn't last through the weekend, that would have been terrible for everyone. It's good that so many people bought a WiiU. I'm sure the network will be back to normal by the end of the weekend.
Just for 3DS folks. I can access the Wii U eShop just fine.
How about you improve the service instead?
Just managed to get on the uk EShop 3DS, got my mario 3 so I'm happy, guess we have to wait until next week for mario tennis on gameboy color, can't have it all ;)
this reflects bad for those that got consoles for christmas theyll remember not being able to access eshop early on and probably purchase less later.
Except you don't need online for 3DS or Wii U (games that require update include it). I doubt anyone will be disappointed assuming they got a decent game with their console (Even Nintendo Land is good for a day's worth of fun). PS4 was much more disappointing considering it was a brick. X1 would have been a brick too, but M$ has really good online.
Makes sense. Throttle traffic in intervals to keep less stress of the severs. Still don't know why so many people are losing their heads over this, like server-overloads are some new occurrence.
This is only news I heard of a major outage so far. I have had no problems with my Wii U so that's good.
