How to avoid 'Minecraft: PS3 Edition' corrupt saves

XMNR: Since Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition was released, users have reported that the game is corrupting their saves despite two patches released since launch. 4J Studios has taken a holiday break which means that a patch to address the save corrupting issue will not be address until sometime after the new year. A reader contacted this Examiner on Thursday about how to avoid the show stopping glitch and so we thought it best to share with everyone else as well.

I backup as much as possible. Losing a Minecraft world is like death. I lost six months of work on Pocket Edition and three months of work on PC.

I actually managed to clone my items (Pokemon style) on the game due saving problems.

i disagree whit you because my roommate has it for 360 and he has had his file corrupted a few times

from testing i did after losing my first save i figured out its because it takes a few seconds for the game to fully save

so if you quit save and the save icon in the corner is going and if you load another save or do anything else it wont completely save and will get corrupted

and if your like me who is in a hurry most of the time you can still corrupt it even if you save whit out quitting i saved the game once and then quickly hit ps button to go back to xmb and save got corrupted

save whichever way you want regular save or or quit save but make sure you wait till the save icon is completely gone before you do anything

I honestly don't understand this trend of corrupted saves. You wanna know why? Because I have PS+ that's why. My PS3 and Vita auto backup my saves to the cloud, download patches, games and sync my trophies all between the hours of 4-6 am. And I get sweet free games that didn't come out years ago as an added bonus.

Thanks for the informative write up Scott but I've found the key to avoiding game save corruptions is to follow a save and exit sequence.

I lost hours of split mode play on Minecraft PS3 and I still haven't found anyway to get that data back, BUT I did find a way to stop it happening with my future saves.

To date my worlds are all intact since I've followed this simple sequence ….

Now readers, your expecting a call to action to point you to a website that will make you read, listen or watch some spurious info and maybe follow up on your interest with a credit card request to receive a 'Magic Bullet Fix' to end your woes. Well here's the good news - The save sequence to follow is to "Exit Game", and "Exit and Save", as opposed to saving, then just quitting.

It's worked for me and I've provided a spurious video for proof.

PS: I have a PSN+ account - it didn't save the bacon or the swords when I tried to reload my worlds BEFORE I used the save sequence above.
