Clocking in at between one and two hours, Cry of the Infected is available for download at a price of $4 and Cyborg Arm has included and alternate ending and unlockable weapon for those brave enough to play through it again. However, as cheap as it is, the game is just too unstable to recommend.
There are some colossal load times (even with 2GB of RAM), persistent crash-to-desktop issues, and many, many occasions when you'll need to reload your last save game due to bugs. For those tempted by the play-as-a-zombie premise, check out the demo on the Cyborg Arm website or alternatively wait until Left 4 Dead turns up later this year.
From the article: " Zombies get a bad rap. The majority of them just can't help their innate, ravenous urges. I'm sure if they had a choice in the manner, we'd see quite a few vegetarian, or even vegan, members of the Undead. You don't get mad at lions for chasing cute zebras, or vultures from scavenging off the zebras' carcass once the lions are done.
Quite a few video games even portray some more rational zombies. So since not all zombies are evil, we shouldn't instantly condemn or fear them. Zombies are simply a part of the circle of life, and we should accept the good along with bad. Besides, if someone isn't able to outwit/outrun a zombie, then maybe that person deserves to get eaten."
Cyborg Arm Games has released a new downloadable PC FPS which promises to put a new spin on the survival horror genre.
