Kotaku: Console launches are emotional events—for gamers and game makers. And tonight in Seoul, one PlayStation exec broke down and wept.
It has probably been one stressful time to try and hit the targets. Especially since "this is a country where PC gaming rules and consoles don't"
http://img.gawkerassets.com... It had to be done
there's no shame in crying a little.
@All, Sickbag anyone? In all honesty crying over a toy is vomit inducing.
Yep, And its good to see PS4 exec. loves his work and loves PS4 fans. Sir you got my respect.
I think it's amazing to see how gaming is able to bridge boundaries where words and actions can't. This truly makes me happy to be a gamer and proud that I own a PS4.
@Gekko36 If you think he's crying over a toy, then you must have no idea why people cry at the Oscars or other award shows. It's not about a statuette or toy, it's about the achievement behind it.
@Gekko36 As the post stated, it seems more deeper than just Playstation. Japan had created a lot of enemies in the past, and Korea was no different. Probably seeing something inspiring to him that despite him being Japanese Koreans are very welcoming either way. So thanks gaming! Hope China will show the same sentiment and gaming will prove peace is inevitable.
Looks like he runs on the good ol' Emotion Engine!
PC gaming rules? Wtf planet are you on? That made me laugh pretty frikin hard. I really hope you were being sarcastic there buddy haha!
"PlayStation passion. " "only possible with cry engine 3..."
LMAO! More like "Achieved with Cry Engine 3"
PlayStation passion Never stop crying.
And it doesn't even use the emotion engine....
Haha. Man.... that was good.
he bites hes controller in anger when pwn on COD, BF4 or killzone
Could you clarify?
Anyone who's passionate enough to cry over gaming is a great representative of the gaming industry:)
Yes video games are wonderful! Just saw this for first time this morning too funny. Keep it up Sony! http://m.youtube.com/watch?...
That was awesome :0)
Robot chicken ftw
off topic, lool but nice vid nonetheless
"off topic" Maybe it drove him to tears...
That was awesome +bubble for sharing man.
best commercial ever!
That is awesome.
I seen that on adultswim last night. I was watching Robot Chicken.
That was the most epic gaming commercial I have ever seen, thanks for posting that LOL!!
Long live play
so much love
Only Sony. Only Sony have this one of a kind great passion for video games. And true gamers give back the love.
And you always hear "do you really think these people care about their fans?". I think it's only a select few console manufacturers that truly care about or are appreciative of their fans.
I never see Nintendo or Xbox employees crying with such passion. That tells you a lot.
Yes Ninetendo, whos main business is videogame, have no passion. I guess I would be crying too if I was about to receive a large holiday bonus check because millions of people bought my product.
@timlot Its funny because you made it sound like Sony is the only company to earn millions from the console industry.
its not always about money..its clear this exec. is very passionate at what he does..
they cry its just not for the same reasons its usually at home or in a office alone while they tell their loved ones about it
I find it funny how people say that Sony somehow cares more about gaming than Microsoft and Nintendo because of this. Guess what? Sony employees aren't the only ones who get emotional when their hard work is finally released. It's not like Microsoft or Nintendo employees are heartless and unpassionate unless if someone is crying at their launches. Hell, some people actually DO cry but I guess it doesn't count since no one was there to film them. With that said, it's heartwarming to see these things. It's just a shame people has to make it into a competition.
Not really, this was the head of Sony Computer Entertainment Korea not America. This is more telling of gaming in Korea and relations to Japan than anything.
don matrick cried after e3
This is pretty great because its genuine. I'm hoping that in the spirit of the message, trolling will be kept to a minimum, despite how wildly optimistic that statement is.
I would too if I worked with such great people. It would make me very proud of them for an successful launch and a great start for a great future. ^~^
Awesome moment in gaming history.
Man how heartless and desperate the fanboys can be hitting disagrees and making stupid childish jokes about the whole thing , so many idiots in this world .
yeah imagine if you worked hard to make something become a reality and then you successfully reach your goal . i had those feelings and its beyond what can be expressed with words i think many people over here dont have achievements in their lives thats why they dont know how it feels
The success of Playstation means a lot to Sony staying in business & people keeping their jobs. He's not crying over the object, he's crying for the hopeful future. Those tears of joy are deserved.
Yeah, pretty sure he's just crying because he's about to make a ton of money. I wouldn't be surprised if this was another bit of pseudo-emotionalism like with Jack Tretton. Funny how these two things happened so close together, and during the shortages (on-purpoose shortages being a common business strategy in the first place). Just to clarify, I'm neither a PC gamer nor pro anything, I just kind of dislike the corporatization of games in general.
"I just kind of dislike the corporatization of games in general." Welcome to forever ago, lol. This type of thing isn't anything new. It just gets more publicized now due to the ease of streaming/posting games news nowadays.
I get teary eyed when I look at how ugly the xbone is
you made my day HAAHAA
Love how all the xbox fanboys are downplaying this because a Sony employee is truly passionate about PlayStation yet I see no passion coming from Microsoft. Only greed.
M$ is not passionate about games they just wanna milk us
You guys are really no better than the xbox fanboys or the PC fanboys. You're both fanboys. This whole people slamming each other for liking a certain console is ridiculous. It's like these people feel they made the consoles themselves and it's their baby. And they hope for the other company to fail. I can understand sony wanting microsoft to fail or the other way around. But why would you guys want that? How awesome do you really think it would be if microsoft tanked and sony had no console competition? Do you think all of this "goodwill" would last forever? Being a fanboy for anything is stupid when you lose your senses and blindly follow things.
You're right. I'm a Sony fanboy with good reason. My comment history is proof. And as for MS I don't want them to fail. I want them to stop being anti-consumer greedy bastards and start supporting gamers. Until then I will NOT be buying an Xbox One for the forseeable future.
And I'm sure xbox fanboys have their reasons too. I'm glad to hear you got a system you like. Seems like a better plan to go enjoy that system than slamming people who like a different one.
Me as a PS4 Owner I can honestly say is worth standing in the cold for a PS4
Because he forgot to pre - order to play the one game out on it.
PS4 has no games worth buying it for if you own a ps3
And if you don't own a PS3, the PS3 is a way better deal than the PS4.
Passion. It can't be bought.
This makes a nice change from the usual stories about people bitching.
It just occurred to him that he forgot to preorder.
