War Thunder 4 PS4 Review – Free Flying | Metro

The makers of IL-2 Sturmovik offer a free-to-play flight sim as their first PlayStation 4 title, and prove microtransactions aren’t always bad.

With four free-to-play games available at launch you could be forgiven for thinking that Sony no longer believes paying £50 for a new video game is the future. Or maybe it’s simply their indie-friendly approaching paying dividends, as developers continue to complain about Microsoft’s less flexible rules.

The story is too old to be commented.

Still haven't seen this. I don't think it's available in the US atleast not for me. Wanted to test this out!

Isn't this available on PC now?

It is on PC and you can make a UK PSN account and download it and it will be on your main accounts profile too on PS4, its what I did

Mouse aiming in this game give PC pilots a considerable advantage. I hope there's some sort of aim assist for PS4 players because if not it's going to be a cross plat turkey shoot.

Oh like all free to play games, prepare for a $15 sub or else you have a massive grind ahead of you.

I've been playing it on ps4 and honestly I have no problem with the controls, as for PC players having an advantage most games I'm in the top 3 playing against pc players in this game isn't that hard, also earning new planes really isn't that hard after about 7-10matches I had fully upgraded all my planes and researched a new plane honestly doesn't take that long it's not that much of a grind fest at all

EDIT: more about the controls in the review they say it's Like moving a cursor then the plane moving to follow it, I can see what they mean by this but there are 2 recticles one of which is the planes guns crosshairs and the other is like a movement reticle which moves when your turning etc it changes the camera angle at the same time so you can see where your going. I prefer this type of control over the bf4/3 jet control scheme by far.

How can you be playing against PC players when the cross platform patch is not even out yet?

It's easier to aim but more difficult to maneuver with a mouse.

So much easier to do an Immelman with a Controller.

I guess this will be available to the US store soon:

We’re happy to announce that today War Thunder took flight on PlayStation®4 and is available for download at no cost via the PlayStation® Network in Europe and also Australia and New Zealand. Release date for PS4-version of War Thunder in North America will be announced later. More news and a PS4 launch trailer will be available next week.
