The PlayStation 4 has been off to a fantastic start, selling over 2.1 million consoles across the globe. While Sony has noted that it's the best start for a PlayStation system in the history of Sony Computer Entertainment, what some people may not be aware of is that it's also the best start for any game console in history, DFC Intelligence noted today.
Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki and CFO Lin Tao talked about the state of the PlayStation business and the strategy and targets going forward, including how they're responding to the tariffs.
Sony announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2024, and things are certainly looking up, despite a decline in PS5 sales.
If their profits fall next quarter, we'll probably see more price hikes. I can't imagine having to pay £20 a month for PlayStation Plus.
Decline in hardware sales.
Behind on lifetime sales and decline in first party sales.
Third party content and PSN came through to save the day.
Things will improve starting with the next Ghost game.
Hopefully a steady flow of first party content by end of '25
PlayStation 5 has shipped 77.8 million units worldwide, Sony announced in its financial results for the three months ended March 31, 2025.
very nice.
in almost 5 years too.
some big hitters are yet to come
Despite the damage control from the fanboys, you really can't deny that (so far) the PS4 has been completely dominating in sales in multiple regions and has a bright future ahead.

Ps4 is a great console, and Sony is giving consumers a great product. It's not perfect, but it's great none the less. Great start so far, but Sony needs to keep the momentum going with great games and improvements to the system. Gotta get those headsets working for starters. MS has nothing to be ashamed of either. Being number two isn't bad, both companies regardless of where they finish will make plenty of money. Plenty!
Even a monkeys uncle knows this is fact. Says a lot about the haters constantly trying to spin and reassure themselves the competition has sold out when it clearly hasn't.
