Turtle Beach Ear Force PX4 Review | T3

It's no accident that the name of the new Turtle Beach Ear Force PX4 headset is just one letter away from the new Sony PS4 console. It's designed to complement Sony's powerful new console in terms of looks thanks to that familiar blue-and-black styling.

I have these headphones and use them on my PS4 and in loving them, lots so sound customization and good sound quality and are really comfy with long gaming sessions.

The best headset for PS4 is the turtle beach elite 800.

So, your* review article is a collection of Amazon reviews. Well played, but I am sorry for those who follow your* advice.

- my to cents don't buy the Tritton Kunai. The cheap plastic might break simply by looking at it.

Turtle Beach PX4 Review | TSA

Sony and Microsoft’s new consoles have caused nothing but bother for those who want to use gaming headsets when they play. It could be for any number of reasons that having your own personal bubble of sound is preferable, so when the PS4 and XBO launched and broke or confused compatibility at launch, the headset manufacturers had a tricky problem to get their heads around.

JLT-Sandwitch4142d ago

I got it too. Sounds a lot better then my tv speakers and is comfortable for hours on end.

Slightly off topic, but can anyone link me to a pair of 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound headphones compatible to the PS4 via USB?

It will be greatly appreciated.

@Lukas

First and foremost I want it to be known that the disagree did not come from me.

As I said in the comment below, usually when you see a headset advertised as "7.1" or "5.1" it's usually extremely overpriced for what it is.

The quality of the actual drivers in the headphones are much more important than 7.1 or 5.1 surround sound. The software pushing the audio should take care of the immersiveness.

For example, check this out with any regular headphones..

I realized this after switching over to my Siberia V2s after owning a "5.1" headset that was $200 for four years. The V2s sound so much better.

Microphone is the most important part on these as you can use any headphones you like on the DS4 but Sony need to up there game with mic support as it seems pretty bad no matter what mic you use at the moment.

They seriously need to improve it in their next FW as using a mic on PS4 is pretty pointless at the moment still.

arbitor3654142d ago

with this headset the sound is through a wireless optical adapter and the mic is through the controller. the quality on both is really good. but sony does need to patch the bluetooth stuff so i dont have to plug into the controller any time i want to use the mic

I use the SteelSeries Siberia V2 headset with my DS4 fine (microphone included). it also works with my Vita fine. Just needs a mic and headset dual female adapter to a single male adapter thats ~$5

I would highly suggest that headset. It's really badass. Probably the best thing about them is the simple fact that they don't look like goofy gaming headsets but a legit music headset so you can wear them in public. The mic even retracts right into the headset.

On a side note 5.1 and 7.1 headsets are usually trash. I owned a $200 5.1 surround headset with 4 speakers in each year for the past 4 years. The SteelSeries one is so much better. It's all about the software pushing the audio to create immersiveness, not the headset itself (at least in 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound regards).

0ut1awed4142d ago

*4 speakers in each ear cup

not each year, lol

_FantasmA_4142d ago (Edited 4142d ago )

Thanks for the link Outlawed. I really want to buy a gaming headset and was going to for the Elite but I don't want to spend more than $80. Tell me, can you hear where the enemies are coming from on that headset?

0ut1awed4142d ago (Edited 4142d ago )

Just as good as I could on any other headset.

In regards to using it with a PS4 DS4, it could sound a tad bit better (if you want to become a audiophile and get extremely technical) but that's not the headsets fault, that's the software pushing the audio into headset. The average user won't notice that though.

If you get the 3.5mm version (which I would suggest) you will need the adapter below to plug it up into your PS4, Vita, cell phone, etc. You could use it for just audio without the adapter fine but if you want to use the mic too you'll need the adapter.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/pr...

BE WARNED! Do NOT get them off ebay. They will more than likely be chinese knock offs although that goes for almost any headset on ebay these days.

_FantasmA_4142d ago

So I went and bought a headset, the Steel Series V2 like mentioned above since Best Buy had them on clearance for $50 and I have a splitter but its not working. Does it have to be a specific splitter for audio and mic? I was thinking it could work with any 3.5mm with 2 female to 1 male port.

0ut1awed4142d ago

Yea you need one that is specfic for the audio and mic function, like the one I linked.

Dr3wthegr8one4142d ago

I don't know if you guys already know this, but I myself was looking for a mic to buy and then last week my girl won me dr dre beats . I decided to try it out on the ps4 to see if it works and i couldn't believe it that it actually works and sounds amazing.I talk with my friend on it all the time when we play killzone together and he says i sound super clear. Just thought i would let u guys know

vikingland14142d ago

I use my sony vita chat ear buds, they blow the mono ps4 head set away.

JMaine5184142d ago

These headphones are garbage. For $150 they feel cheap and aren't snug at all. Quality isn't that good either. The pulse elite headset is way better and when they finally update to be wireless it'll def be worth it over this.

CarnageXB4142d ago

I use my turtle beach x11's with my ps4. They worked great for my 360, why should I buy new ones when they work just fine with the ps4. Even the chat function works with a 2.5 to 3.5 adapter.
