DSOGaming writes: "BeamNG’s Drive is an amazing tech demo that features a proprietary soft-body physics engine that simulates every component of a vehicle in real time, resulting in realistic, dynamic behavior. The company has just launched its Steam Greenlight campaign, so that you can vote in order to bring it to Valve’s distribution service."
YouTube's member 'jaimswallace' has posted an interested comparison between BeamNG's tech demo and Next Car Game.
DSOGaming writes: "Our reader 'Jonathan Gustafsson' has shared with us a video from a new mod for BeamNG's next-gen physics tech demo, Drive. As Jonathan noted, this is one of the best most detailed mods for BeamNG's Drive and as the title suggests, it introduces an offroad jeep vehicle to the game."
Wings can clip through buildings and look like they're made of cloth after impact? This is like the comically bad "ragdoll" physics when they started appearing in shooters in the 90s.
That physics simulation doesn't look anywhere close to reality. There are engines out there with better physics when it comes to planes. Their car physics though is quite impressive.

thinking about the amount of work that must've gone into making this gives me headaches
Like crap? Kudos for the work, but it doesn't represent damage accurately. Supplement this with break damage and you'll be onto something.
