As the ‘next generation’ of consoles is finally upon us, many gamers are going to be looking to upgrade parts of their home entertainment system to match their ultra powerful gaming system. Given that many headsets are seeing compatibility issues with the PS4, consumers are looking for something that was designed with the new platforms in mind. Annoys me so much that a $299.99 headset is £299.99

MadLad3782d ago

If you are going to pay that much for a standalone headset out of the box, you might as well go with the A50's, or the 2013 A40's for $50 cheaper.
They still seem to be the best on the market at the moment.

medman3781d ago

How do you figure? The A50's are not highly rated for the money. Many reviewers have had their issues with the A50's.

MadLad3781d ago

Yeah. Within the first month of their release. I grabbed the A50's this time last year and have had no issues whatsoever.
If anyone is having issues, it was either a bad batch or simply they didn't update the drivers - something that most other headsets don't even offer.

I have the a50's and the pulse elites from sony but i recently picked up the pdp afterglows from best buy for my ps4. they sound pretty damn good, got tired of waiting for the update/patch to use my elites. 100 bucks cheaper than those steel series but they only go up to 5.1

ICANPLAYGAMES23782d ago

Do the older pdp Afterglows work? Just curious, I bought a set back when the Wii U came out for that, but it is compatible with the PS3 and 360, etc. On the PS4 are you using it wireless, or through the port on the controller?

DaGR8JIBRALTAR3782d ago (Edited 3782d ago )

port on the controller for chatting..don't know if the older ones work or not. if it's the 199.99 version you might be good tho.

MasterCornholio3782d ago

I just got some Trittons Pro+ for 150€ (199€ in game) and they work pretty well. I'm still trying to get used to configuring the speakers though since the headphones have 4 in each side.

qu1ckset3782d ago

I'm using the Turtlebeach PX4 headphones and there full wireless for sound and will be for chat when the Bluetooth update comes out. My PX4's sounds amazing and I only paid $150 for them, are these really worth $150 more? They look nice but the mic looks kind of cheap!

Audeze Maxwell are the best. The 90mm Planar magnets create a much better soundstage.

Goosejuice323d ago

I would hope so at 300$+ range

GoodGuy09324d ago

I love my arctis 7+. Great sound, ergonomics, and long lasting battery. Steel series is a great brand for headphones I'd recommend.

phoenixwing324d ago

Is this better than sonys official headsets for playing exclusives?

Jin_Sakai324d ago (Edited 324d ago )

I had both and preferred the Artcis. It’s more comfortable and sounds about the same.

phoenixwing324d ago

@jin
Well if it sounds the same I'll save my money then. Already own sonys headset with 3d audio

“Well if it sounds the same I'll save my money then. Already own sonys headset with 3d audio“

Sorry I was wrong. I had the Arctis 7 not the Nova 4 so I can’t make judgement. The Arctis 7 did sound better than the Pulse 3D now that I think about it and they were more comfortable.

If you want a big step up in sound quality and mic quality go for the Audeze Maxwell. The 90mm Planar magnetic drivers have an amazing soundstage. Probably the the best sounding gaming headset on the market.

I'll continue sticking with my A50S until they, inevitably, break. Then I'll see what's on the market.
