DICE Will Not Develop Next Battlefield Title

Gaming business analyst Michael Pachter said that the next title in Battlefield series will not be developed by DICE in 2014, it was according to EA management.

It seems EA has a tendency to kill off all the franchises that I like, and I suspect Battlefront will probably be amazing and then never see a sequel, as tends to be the case.

I'd love to see new entries in the Burnout, SSX and Bad Company franchises, but EA likes to kill anything good that they have :(

iv been drooling over the thought of how Burnout could look next gen (aka current gen). they could blow the physics out of the park this time around. Burnout Paradise had incredible damage physics and that was on old tech! Let Criterion make a Burnout game EA!!!

They have to wait until Battlefield's metacritic score dives below 70, then they'll switch over to another franchise and wait for it to die too.

Hopefully DICE can concentrate on Mirrors Edge 2 and Battlefront 3 JUST for the PS4/XB1/PC.

Not to slight PS3/X360 owners but 5 platforms development is why BF4 has so many issues.

its like all these devs might as well target a january 1st release date and then fix it all the way to the holidays! it took practically a year of 2GB patches to get bf3 at what shouldve been launch quality.

The sad part is that games like this hardly ever released on the Xbox and PS2 or earlier systems. I love online, but recently updates and patches seem to have given developers an excuse to be lazy.

I'm fine with that if it means they'll make a BFBC3 next year. After that, I won't buy another Battlefield game. Also, isn't it a little late to complete with COD by using the same tactics? People are really starting to get tired of it as interest in the series has really gone down.

i agree i want BFBC3, but EA has called the bad company series "niche" and theyd prefer to release a numbered BF. not sure how well over 6 million copies sold is niche though.
i remember when all kinds of spin offs were going. the series really isnt what it used to be in my opinion.

Yup that's what I heard. The rumour is that they've got the dead space 3 developers doing it. I really hope it turns out to be false as it's the last thing Battlefield needs.

They said no annual title sure, but they did also say they have plans for a shooter rotation with Titanfall, Battlefield, and Battlefront.

Criterion said it has plans to start a new IP that isn't racing. So there goes my burnout hopes. This could fill the 2014 shooter void that EA is leaving open on PS4. Criterion's last FPS was one of the best of a generation with PS2/Xbox title BLACK. I have high hopes if they are going with an FPS.

this is what happens when you let a big publisher own you. DICE was made to push out BF4, hell maybe even BF3 before it was stable.

this is another reason why DD is going to be big soon. you can publish your own game when you want, when it is done and stable.

Xxxsiegez, we've hardly seen a trailer or anything about starwars. I'm not saying its not possible. I just point to mirrors edge because we've had a full trailer, some idea if story in that it's a origin story and open world, and it was teased in BF4.

Just speculated based on the evidence we have for dices upcoming games.

My bet is on Criterion's new IP as there title is likely a 2014 release. Its been in development at least since April 2012. Its not a racer they say. If its anything like BLACK enhanced 10-20 fold on next gen then I am in. :)

Mirror's Edge looks to be mid 2015 with Battlefront in Fall 2015 or maybe the other way around. They have already confirmed Battlefront will release in 2015.

Right now in 2014 its early 2014 Titanfall release and nothing known for a Fall shooter release. I suspect Visceral has a new title in the works as well, but no clue as to what it is yet. Likely we won't see what is coming until E3 2014.

They need to give it a rest. Battlefield is a great series, but I don't see it doing anything special with new additions. The PC versions are graphically stacked to last for awhile, while the console versions just need to some fixes here and there.

They will I believe. They rushed BF4 out the door to meet the Next gen launch. Now DICE will sit it out for a year or two developing Mirror's Edge 2, and Battlefront. While EA pushes Criterion, and Visceral to work on projects. I am most interested in what Criterion is working on. Its not burnout though.
