Gran Turismo 6 Review | VideoGamer

Gran Turismo 6 ends up feeling stubborn to adapt to modernity. Its myriad landscapes are barren and unexciting, while the music sounds like it’s been ripped straight from a Ron Jeremy compilation VHS. There’s an age old argument that simulation racing games are ‘just cars going around in circles’ – Gran Turismo 6 has no retort.

"There are 101 Mazdas in Gran Turismo 6. Why? I honestly don’t know."
"With 101 Mazdas to sort through, it’s nonsensical and frustrating."
"Racing is soulless."
"There’s an age old argument that simulation racing games are ‘just cars going around in circles’ – Gran Turismo 6 has no retort."
"Played for 11 hours. Drove quite a few Mazdas."

No words to express the global collective facepalm this "review" induces...

Complaining about getting more cars and complaining that it is a racing simulator... What is journalism stooping to?

I'll second your facepalm.

I usually really like VideoGamer's reviews. This is the first time I've ever disagreed with them so much. Though, now that I've noticed it... This "Sam White" guy (author of this review) doesn't at all seem like one of this site's actual reviewers. I think this may just be some user review.

If he IS somehow an actual reviewer, then they definitely could have picked someone better suited for the job. (Look at his user page).

thaks! saved my time!

"Racing is soulless"

This is so wrong... :(

CryofSilence3875d ago

I guess this is how GT should adapt to "modernity." >.>

You know I'm not surprised by this at all I wonder what this same site gave forza 5 with its car and track content cut in half and majority of its features stripped out.

Doesn't matter what these reviewers agendas are I'll still be playing the hell out of this game.

RedDevils3874d ago

I wouldn't be surprise this same guy would give Forza 5 10/10

Complete morons working in the world of Journalism that honestly make me think that this world is seriously turning into something out of that film 'Idiocracy'.

I guess he much preferred Forza's approach of containing LESS cars and tracks than previous iterations, while not doing half the things Gran Turismo 6 does. Where are your brain cells man?

These rushed reviews where he only plays the game for 11 hours is rather stupid. Shotguns should be used more liberally in their offices.

jerethdagryphon3871d ago

i sat down played for 11 hours and wondered why i was feeling faint :( oh well my burgendy maserati calls and i still have part of goodwin to gold... let me know when its xmas

GribbleGrunger3875d ago (Edited 3875d ago )

God forbid this guy reviews a decent JRPG after playing for just 11 hours: 'Nothing much happened'. Game journalism has dropped from a hairy orifice, plopped into germ infested water, been flushed down a crusty pipe, slithered through a rat infested sewer and is currently bobbing about it in North Atlantic looking for any crustacean stupid enough to consider it worthy of scrutiny.

Evil_Abed3874d ago

Celebrates when same journalists give TLoU/Tearaway game of the year awards.

Seems gaming journalism is great only when it suits our agendas.

nix3874d ago

Evil... If u spend 11 hours into TLOU or Tearaway, you might actually finish the game or reach halfway, depending upon your skill.

Now complaining about playing GT6 for 11 hours n expecting something to happen is ridiculous! This game gets nowhere in 11 hours. The game is not made to be over in 11 hours.

HammadTheBeast3874d ago

Yes, but those games can be meant for everyone. When you treat GT6 like f***** Need for Speed, that's when you know this site is messed up.

Another review was complaining that there were no rockets or turtle shells along the tracks ffs.

Fishy Fingers3875d ago

Clearly, 11 hours isn't ample when reviewing something as rich in content as a GT game.

Kyosuke_Sanada3875d ago

"Gran Turismo 6 ends up feeling stubborn to adapt to modernity."

What the hell is that supposed to mean? It a simulator, how is driving realistically outdated?

FamilyGuy3875d ago

Yeeeah, I'm pretty lost on that one too.

What exactly is he expecting to change?
Has driving/racing cars changed much in the last year or two?

izumo_lee3875d ago

I don't know there are a lot of cars that are now automated (like self parking ones) so maybe he wants the game to play for him....maybe?

That's what B-spec was for right.

Evil_Abed3874d ago

Well in the modern day, the interior of all cars is detailed and not a black hole like it was back in the 90's, also cars get damaged when you hit a wall at 70 mph.

Kyosuke_Sanada3874d ago (Edited 3874d ago )

Every game has cut backs, some have blacked out cars others have 2d crowds......but damage IS in Gran Turismo 6.

HammadTheBeast3874d ago

When you have 1000+ cars, I'm sure you can make some interiors black holes

jerethdagryphon3871d ago

oi look closly gt6v has 3d crowds :) i as impressed
