VideoGamer: "Super Mario 3D World hasn't captured the interest of gamers as much as it deserves. Does this spell the end for Nintendo's latest console?"
The Nintendo Switch 2 has set a new record by selling over 3 million units within 24 hours, tripling the PlayStation 4’s previous launch day sales.
Its crazy that it's both the highest selling console on day 1 and people can walk into a store and buy it with no pre order
Company skipped last year's event.
Not surprising at all.
I mean, they´ll be releasing a new console in a few weeks.
Nintendo has announced its financial results for the full fiscal year, alongside an update to Nintendo Switch shipments and more data, including a prediction for Switch 2 hardware and software.
well, the switch 2 has two holidays in the us, thanksgiving and Christmas.
so id say its fairly possible. the rest of the world will also grab them
Switch and Switch are a different kettle of fish. A sell out at launch by the diehards, strong sales, then the non diehards will be put off by the £75 ($99) games, including the stupid download cards which are topping £65 ($85). Not rocket science to work out how the Switch 2 is going to pan out. The PS5 has sold well, but games at £70, sales have been low. As game sales drop, prices will rise. Sony could knock out all their games for £40 and still make a killing selling more games. There's no denying that a gaming crash is looming.
Not paying for something that's not worth more than the price it was advertised, which is $449 - $499.
If Sony and MS keep their gamer's happy with a big diversity of games then Wii U will defiantly suffer.
Edit: I mean even now the PS4 sold more than the Wii U's entire life time sales in the Uk in 1 weekend :/
Is this the end for the Wii U?'''
You wish, buddy.
Nintendo will ride out the Wii U till the bitter end, 2017 at least, then start fresh with a new console.
I find it sad how Shuhei Yoshida admitted that he wants Nintendo to succeed (for Sony's benefit), yet everyone else wants Nintendo to fail.
Doubt it. Even with N64 and GC trailing behind their competitors, Nintendo did not bother cutting them loose and they still made a profit from both systems.
Even if Wii U sells behind for it's lifetime, Nintendo won't nuke it. They've only done that to one system and that was Virtual Boy; which was a failure in the making. Wii U on the other hand has a growing user base and a solid line-up of exclusives for next year.
Now, if titles like MK8 and Smash 4 don't move units; then it probably will be in third-place all its life, but I wouldn't count on that just yet. Mario is big, but two simultaneous console-launches of course will suppress its effect.
Should be interesting how each system fares after the holidays. I'm curious as to how the Wii U will do when the X1 and PS4 are in a drought (sold-out); if it could pick up the pace during those off-periods.
I think it could be the end of nintendo home consoles. But they're killing it with handheld. I could see them going all handheld in the future.
