Ys: Memories of Celceta Review | Hardcore Gamer

It’s truly impressive just how solid a game Ys: Memories of Celceta is.

It has a lot of moving parts, and yet never once does it get lost in all its trying to do.

Instead, all of its aspects feel polished, well-conceived and executed in tandem with a remarkable sense of precision.

This is one of the Vita’s most prized RPGs, and realistically, one of its best titles.

It’s a fine package that feels complete, and given the love a game like this deserves.

Longtime fans will be beyond pleased with what’s here, while series newcomers will find the title to be the perfect entry point to the franchise.

If you like roleplaying games, and you own a Vita, you owe it to yourself to check out Memories of Celceta — it’s just that good.

Without a doubt one of the best PsVita titles. It's really hard to put this game down

Great to hear! My brother is bringing me his Vita today for thanksgiving to borrow and i'll be buying Ys: Celceta ASAP!

i've been a fan of the series since Ys: Book I&II was released on TurboGrafx-CD back in 1991.

Inception4214d ago

Me too. Imho YS 7 is the best in YS series. I really love it and this one right on par, if not above it.

I definitely plan on getting this game. Sony calls the PS4 the new PSOne, and whilst that's all fine and dandy, I still don't see any meaningful RPGs (Japanese or otherwise) coming on the horizon. I don't care for Diablo 3 (I tried it on my PC), and until SEGA announces Yakuza Issin for a western release, I have no plans for a PS4 any time soon. It's looking to me that my Vita will be the new PSOne, at least as far as RPGs go. With absolutely fabulous games like Persona 4 The Golden, Muramasa Rebirth, Dragon's Crown, and a slew more coming, this is the newest console that captures my fancy. Keep things coming, everybody! :)

Not to great tbh. I didn't realize its just one massive dungeon for the whole game. Fun combat but poor story, bad graphics, no meaningful exploration or hidden areas, and only one environment for the most part. So far I'd give it a 7 or so (about 10-12 hors in). Not much else on the vita though rpg wise though and the limited edition is a really amazing package overall.

Yes, I find this series to be a tad overrated. Fun combat and twitch controls, but the game seems to be mostly praised for it's difficulty and music. I've tried my hand at two of the more recent PC games and I just couldn't go on after about 10 hours into each. I'm sure it's fun for the fans of these games, but overall it should be docked on points for the graphical, story (a huge component of almost any RPG) and content shortcomings.

games have different strong points, this one has gameplay, and it still looks better than pokemon x/y graphically.

It's a YS game, the formula is well established, I agree it's a like it/hate it kind of style.

Inception4214d ago

Poor story? You mean simple but charming story. Please, distinguish between 'poor' and simple. And YS always like that from the old days.

Bad graphics? Blegh, you must be noobs for YS series. This game never focus on graphic. If you play YS for graphic than this series isn't for you.

No meaningful exploration / hidden areas? You can't BS me dude. YS Celceta have lot of side-quest and hidden areas. I even doubt you play this game for 10-12 hours, because right in the beginning of this game they already gave me a couple of side-quest.

Likes Ys on PSP.
This one should be on my list as well.
Thanks 4 the review

Ys; Memories of Celceta Review | Total Gaming Addicts

Originally released back on the PS Vita in 2012, the HD remaster can still be forgiven for having very basic looking graphics, as back then that was all the little handheld console could master. However, with a sprinkle of magic developer dust, Falcom have at least tried to bring it up to modern-day standards, but visually at least, it still falls a little short.

Ys: Memories of Celceta Review - Ain’t Pretty, But Plays Like A Dream | COGconnected

COG writes: What we have in Ys: Memories of Celceta is a game that has dated graphics and an okay presentation, but phenomenal music and gameplay. This is one of the finest action JRPGs I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing.

Another great entry into the series I'm kinda shocked that if Ys Origin of all games is on consoles why cant see Oath in Felgana and 7 among others.
