Xbox One vs. PS4: Which console’s controller is better?

A video game console’s gamepad is often considered to be one of its most important feature. So which gamepad reigns supreme? The PS4's DualShock 4, or the Xbox One's controller?

X1 controller feels more natural to me, DS feel much more improved though... Which is better? Thats the eye of the beholder....

It's personal choice.
Before I got the Xb360 I was concerned that I woudn't be able to use the cntroller but now love it.
Now i'm moving to PS4 I'm concerned that in the days before my 360 I couldn't use the old dualshock joysticks. I'm sure I'll get used to it fairly quickly though.
I intend on buying Titanfall and Project spark on the 360 so will be using both controllers so interested to find out which i enjoy more a few months from now.
I'm guessing both?

personally I have always been a big supporter of the xbox controller...

but, i don't like this new one for two main reasons;

1. i don't like the way the thumbsticks are smaller then the old 360 pad. for me the 360 pad was perfect. I have big hands and big thumbs. my thumbs use to sit perfectly in the middle of the sticks. now because they are small i find that my thumb goes over the sticks edges which means i have to constantly adjust my thumbs round the edges of them in stead of just having control from the center.

2. the sticks feel a lot looser/slackish. basically they feel as light as the ds3 sticks almost. again the 360 sticks had just the right amount of resistance for me.

on a plus side the D pad is amazing.

the same and everything else is fantastic. its just the changes to the sticks that have put me off.

the ps4 pad again is amazing compared to the ds3, but again the one big problem i have always had with the ps pads is the position of the sticks.

I can get use to the ds4 pad, it's a lot better then the old one, again it's just the sticks that are an issue for me.

so where before the 360 pad was simply perfect for me - the dpad. now both pads are about the same. i have issue with the sticks on both pads but other then that they are both amazing.

The controllers are not going to make or break either console. Both controllers are really good.

I agree I think all 3 consoles for the 1st time in a long time have very good controllers. I find the wiiu controller easy to hold and use for all the games ive played. I even like the wiiu pro controller. I really like the Xbox one controller and prefer it over the 360s and I have held a ds4 as it is by far the best Sony controller I have uses. I have never liked the ds controllers as I have big hands and they have all been too small for me and o get cramp but I dint think I will with the ds4.

Valid point. I think they're both great. It's really hard to pick one over the other.

Always been a fan of the Xbox controller but the bumpers on the Xbox One controller really put me off.

I haven't used the xbox one controller yet, but I've heard many complaints about the bumpers. What's so bad about them?

The upper part of it feels a bit too hard to press in and it just feels awkward to press or hold in. I think it's something you would get used to but I just don't like it myself.

I think the problem is that people are trying to use them in the same way as the 360 gamepad. Rather than having to switch my indexes from the triggers to the bumpers, now you can hit the bumpers by sliding your indexes, all without taking them off the triggers. I can see why some people are put off by them right now, but like I already did, most people will learn to adjust and will actually prefer it over the last ones.

I've heard a lot of mixed opinions about it. People either love it or hate it. In my opinion they should have kept the 360 controller but fix the D-pad and remove the battery pack and replace it with a rechargeable one. Microsoft said they even spent billions of dollars researching into the X1 controller.

Love the PS4 controller. I have yet to try the Xbone controller. My gamestop does't have it playable yet. Been waiting to try it.

The Ps4 controller is improved and got some new features where the xbox one controller is basically the same as before.

I actually find the XBO controller to be smaller and less comfortable than the 360's. Having the bumpers elevated makes it uncomfortable and awkward to switch back and forth with the triggers.

I hate the bumpers, no idea why they screwed them up compared to how they are on the 360 controller.

The sticks are also a bit small.

The extra rumble is cool.

The way a Controller feel in your hands stick layout, buttons and etc is just a personal reference, Not a fact.

Dualshock 4 offers more innovations and ways to play games than just rumble triggers. DS4 has build in Lightbar/Move, Motion control, Touch Pad and a Speaker making it better than the X1 Controller for an overall experience.

Examples:
Battlefield 4 use motion control, Tilt the controller to leaning out around cover.
Theif uses the light bar, it changes color when character is hidden properly in the shadows.
Killzone using the touchpad for controlling the OWL and speaker for playing audio logs

As I said, Those extra features can enhance a person gameplay experience. SO disagree all you want.

I love the Xbox fans downvoting for stating a fact and marking it as immature.

Many high profile sites prefer the DS4 over the Xbox One controller.

People must be annoyed that the Xbox doesn't even have the clear advantage in controller anymore.

Mine got marked as immature and I didn't get a single down vote on it and only agrees :/ Like I said in my post I got a feel of the DS4 today and it felt amazing, I've been using a 360 and DS3 controller for the past 8 years so it was a pleasant surprise to find the DS4 felt better, I might even get a Xbox One controller to use with my PC as I haven't used that yet and then I'll be able to see which one feels better.

Umm I see the opposite, most comments saying that they like the X1 controller are downvoted through the nose. And how is saying the one is better a fact, it's purely based off of personal preference. I'm in love with how the X1 controller feels, playing BF4 I feel much more precise with the new joysticks and playing Forza 5 I can't describe just how revolutionary the feedback triggers feel, I always struggled to control my car in previous forzas but I have already more or less mastered most of the cars in my garage.

After getting hands-on on both consoles. . . Xbox tour and PS4 rooms here in Dublin. I feel that one controller is better than the other although they're both improvements over their older counterparts. . .
