Teething trouble.

(Probably...)

caseh4217d ago

More than likely considering the anticipation of the XB1.

I'm expecting the same with PS4 around launch. Day one patch, PSN in general is going to get HAMMERED. Sadly I've not bought any games with my PS4 pre-order, I fear I may be sat twiddling my thumbs for a bit. :0

snake-OO4217d ago

I was going to go your route and not buy any retail games then I saw the prices of PSN store games. Daylight robbery.

Gazondaily4217d ago

I just got off playing Killer IInstinct. Absolutely fine on my end. Has to be said btw, I have NEVER played a beat em up with 0 lag. Honestly, it's like playing offline.

G20WLY4217d ago

Both Live and PSN will be under pressure. Both also have ridiculous game prices, sadly - something needs to be done about it, frankly.

Unless of course they do this to reduce download traffic, in which case it's working a treat! :P

No way man, you'll have Resogun, Blacklight, DC Universe Online, War Thunder, WarFrame and are you guys getting Contrast through PS+ as well?

There's plenty to play, even if you don't buy a single game at launch.

As far as PSN getting hammered, it'll probably be from all the downloading of games and patches in the first few days if it does have trouble at all. I was on day 1 here with no problems at all. Got that message claiming there to be "maintenance" but I just reset my connection and it let me online and never came up again.

On topic:

I'm sure this down time didn't effect everyone but any launch day buyers should know all things need a bit of ironing out in the beginning.

@familyguy

'No way man, you'll have Resogun, Blacklight, DC Universe Online, War Thunder, WarFrame and are you guys getting Contrast through PS+ as well?'

All of these need to be downloaded...via PSN. I don't know how many PS4s will be live day one (in the EU) but if they all connect up, they will ALL be downloading the patch and every free game doing the rounds. PSN is going to get HAMMERED and it won't be much fun. I'll be surprised if it holds up, not that I don't have faith in Sony but working in IT makes you understand that overloading something will make it fall over and it isn't something you can always get right.

pyramidshead4217d ago

If you bought PS+ for a month about £5, you'd have about £30-40s worth of game to play right off the bat.

GraveLord4217d ago

PS4 already launched in the US. Yes, it did have some problems but if you managed to log in, you were fine. Didn't last 16 hours though. PSN was unstable for launch weekend and fixed itself after that.(kinda)

LordMaim4217d ago

Go download the firmware update to a USB now just in case. Its very helpful, particularly if you're going to upgrade your HDD immediately.

caseh4217d ago

@Lordmaim

Considered that but i've only seen it available on the US Sony support side of things.

It could be universal but unless someone could confirm that I don't think I would take the risk of bricking my PS4 day one. :)

Did you ignore this entire part of my reply? lol

I downloaded all these games in the first 2 days of the PS4 being out here in the US (minus War Thunder because it comes out this week) and I even got the Trine 2 demo. All with no problem. DC Universe was the biggest, most time consuming one.

... Brought to you by the power of the cloud !

Bu..Bu..But Microsoft don't experience online trouble! This has got to be a mistake! I got hammered when I said Live would have issues just like any online service, just like there were launch issues here in the US.

some uk services are running

Mike134nl4217d ago

for the uk gamers wondering why they can still log into xbox live, purchase and content usage and social and gaming functions are apparently 'unavailable'. Xbox core service is still up and running, for details on which uk services are running check:

Who said that the live was perfect? It can happen

MightyNoX4217d ago

In which case, people need to be thankful the console's not supposed to be always online.

MasterCornholio4217d ago

And some people were claiming that live wouldn't have any issues. I'm pretty sure they will fix it soon.

Ricegum4217d ago

Not good enough, taking it back.

Ricegum4217d ago

It was a joke. I thought that was obvious.

Cat Quest III Is Heading to Apple Devices on August 8

"A big part of being a cat pirate is sailing the seas and traveling from place to place. What better way to do just that than by playing Cat Quest III on the go? Soon, aspiring kitty pirates will be able to enjoy the charming cat-themed action RPG on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. That should be a purrfect option for gamers who don't have the game on Switch or Steam Deck. The iOS version will still support 2-player local co-op, thankfully," says Co-Optimus.

Dark Quest 4 Will Bring Back the Co-op When It Comes Out Later This Year

"It could be said that Brain Seal Ltd, the developer of the Dark Quest series, is wishy-washy on co-op. Every other game is either single-player or co-op. Thankfully, the upcoming Dark Quest 4 will be one of the co-op ones. In fact, it looks like this will be the biggest and best game yet in the board game-style dungeon crawling series. A demo has recently arrived on Steam, and the game will come to both consoles and PC later this year," says Co-Optimus.
