A Bulk SCEA PSN Change Password Notification Has Been Deployed

SCEA Users are reporting a mass email from Sony to change their PSN password.

Heavy is right, this is old news. they did it in EU last week and explained why at the time. It's good practise to change passwords - at work I have to change my main password every month, it just keeps security tight.

I did it last week, takes 2 mins to click forgot password, click link from email and input new password.

I am Security IT Professional and you should change your password at least once a month. For most it is linked to your credit card information.

I didn't recieved any email. I couldn't log in to the EA servers in BF4 on PS4 for some reason but I was still online on PSN. I restarted the console and it didn't sign in automatically, when I went to sign in manually, it said I had to change my password, I followed instructions, they sent me a link to my email address and that was it.

The email isn't a bulk mailing, it only effected a small percentage of users.

I have only a US account, and last night I had to reset mine. Actually had to contact support about it. People are having problems (myself included) where it won't accept your information. Kinda sucks tbh, but it's all fixed now.

It askes for dob which I didnt know either and had to call customer service to reset my pass when setting up my PS4 since I forgot my pass. Also couldnt find how to change that information to make sure its accurate I made my account over 6 years ago and dont remember if and why I didnt use correct information.

used psvita and "forget password" option to reset password.
worked and tried subaccounts...nothing. they all worked fine.

i did notice my ps3 is more sluggish (mainly netflix and using any gaming online). checked speedtest.net and it pings just fine.

Hoping to get a notification from Sony about the "WHY" though...
and what's this about sending a photo copy of your ID to sony?

My account (US) came up with a password incorrect message and it also said the date of birth was incorrect (it wasn't), so I had to call support. I got stuck on hold for about an hour, but the CS rep was surprisingly nice and helpful. While I was on hold, I started playing the new Zelda, and he instantly recognized the music when the call finally went through, so that was a fun little moment. Had a small chat about Tearaway as well while the system did it's thing.

Once I got through it was maybe 5 minutes before I was back online. He said this was a known issue, and that if I knew anyone with the same problem, I should let them know that more than 3 failed password reset attempts puts you on a 24 hour lock. So, when in doubt, contact support.

If info's leaked, then I'll change it, but if it's just a standard safety precaution, I'd rather not change stuff.

Im from us and had to change mines as well, called sony and guy sent me a email to reset password since i did not already get one and after all that it worked. At least all is ok.

when you say forgot password type in your date of birth and sony will send you an email to change your password.

worst part was that I put the wrong year on my birth day when I made my PSN account way back in 2008...had to guess 3 times before getting it right, wish I could change it now but I don't think thats possible.

To do this on a such a mass scale must mean they are attempting to prevent something that could affect users on a mass scale, or are unannounced resets just a reality now?
