The psychology of fanboys, explained by a professional

Fanboys. They’re one of gaming’s most prevalent phenomena, and one of its most seemingly inexplicable. Vocal, dogmatic, and often apparently illogical, the veracity of their loyalty to brands and franchises is matched only by the blinkered, unswerving nature of their viewpoints.

They care about resolution and graphics! But only up to how it looks on their platform of choice, anything better than that they can't tell the difference and doesn't matter.

Remember when people want to argue kz3 and uncharted 2 look better than 1080p pc games? Lol

WhiteDynamite3803d ago

I know, right?! Last gen it was all about how Uncharted, God of War, The Last of Us! BEYOND! were somehow better looking than PC games despite their sub-HD resolutions, low-poly models/environments, blurry low-res textures and slide-show framerates. NOW the SonyTards care about 1080p/60fps, even though that's not what "next-gen" is about. It's about being able to do new things in games we haven't done before.

Uncharted looks pretty amazing

DeadManIV3803d ago

Why do people try to compare consoles to PCs, I game on both, they are totally separate to me

@WhiteDynamite:

Interesting - You seem to be pure evidence of what this article is trying to define.

I get annoyed more at the misinformation spread by fanboys and when you call them out on it your just get barraged by their clan throwing verbal abuse and never backing and of their statements.

This site is a prime example of lack of mods and banning for fanboyism.

Which is a shame as this site is great for getting the stories buy comment section is rabbid. They need to bring back the openzone where the one stars should be. But then again I have seem some resetting of bubbles in the last few months for no reason.

I don't think brand loyalty from childhood is the only potential cause of fanboyism... from generation to generation there is lots of turnover and fanatics will sometimes display the same behavior to a different brand.

I think this can stem from the need of validating and protecting their own choice (purchase). With the pricing of these electronics many of these people feel they are stuck with their initial choice so they want to ensure that it is perceived, even by themselves, as the best choice.

In the end I am loyal only to the companies that are doing things in the way I want and making the games that I enjoy. It really shouldn't be any other way... do what YOU want. Go ahead and make a strong argument to others to grow the network you will be playing in but don't expect everyone to sway.

My 'loyalty' has jumped from Nintendo to SEGA, to Nintendo, and then to Sony. Each gen is a new opportunity to bring something different to the table and that will likely bring in both new fans while losing the old.

EKWB reportedly plagued with financial disarray many gaming pc's left without parts

EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.

EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.

Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.

This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

SO yeah i know not about a video game but think of it as amd leaving the pc space but this is ekwb that could be leaving water cooling in the pc space

As someone that has built a watercooling rig. EK is big, but there's so many numerous watercooling part companies out there. EK's stuff isn't exactly amazing quality for the price compared to others either, it's just ok. Much like Corsair. The impact would be negligible long term. For perspective the majority of my parts are XSPC, at most I use EK for my gpu waterblocks and fittings. Both easily replaceable.
