Xtra-vision/HMV holding Xbox One Pre-Orders?

Reddit User, leedsfreak posted on the site yesterday that XtraVision allegedly refused to hand over her pre-ordered Xbox One bundle unless she purchased an additional accessory or game!

I want to highlight this shameful practice going on in Ireland at the moment from one of the leading Movie Rental/Gaming stores in the country.
People whom Pre-Ordered and Paid for Xbox Ones were forced to buy a Game or an Accessory before they would release the console to them and plan to do the same with the PS4. They were bought out by HMV when they nearly went under and this is now how the are abusing Irish customers loyalty!

We had Xtravision here and they decided we werent worthy anymore so they closed shop two months ago and now we dont have a decent movie store anymore. All we have now is Gamestop and since Xtravision closed Gamestop is gone stupidly expensive with their preowned games. Gamestop is currently charging €55 for a pre owned copy of GTA V. Xtravision was always €10 or more cheaper with their preowned games.

Nope. When they were here in my town they were always €10 cheaper than gamestop.

Can't you just buy i an accessory and simply refund it later? Here in germany you have a right to refund everything for 14 days...anyway, that is some terrible practice to bind your customer

No they wont get a full refund. If they bring it back they will get 50% or less for what they paid for it even if its unopened and in perfect condition. Here in Ireland the people get ripped off with everything.

In answer to the question, No. In order of exchange the customer can get something of equal value or a gift card. Refunds may only be given on faulty goods here unfortunately
If this genuinely happened to you. You got ripped off.
The only way i can imagine this happening is that you returned something without a proof of purchase after a price drop. In which case you werent necessarily entitled to a refund at all. All assumption of course
