According to Comma 8 Studios and the game’s official website, the remake of MU.L.E. aka Multiple Use Labor Element will breathe new life when it launches for the iOS on November 25th.
Originally released for the Atari 800 in 1983 entitled M.UL.E., players can expect the same game this time around, as it will be a “faithful reproduction of [the] game’s rules.” The only differences are the updated HD graphics, leaderboards, challenges and three difficulty levels.
MULE, the seminal 1983 turn-based strategy game by Ozark Softscape has a sequel for Android by Comma 8 Studios. It’s still a resource management strategy game where the objective is to build a thriving space colony using cranky Multiple Use Labor Elements, or MULEs. Pay attention to the in-game instructions, and the colony should thrive to be more than a backwater.
I played the heck out of that game on the Atari with the number key pad..lol downloading now for the 2nd game.
MULE Returns is basically an economic simulation presented in game form. A remake of a classic Atari game, players set out to colonize a new planet with three other participants. Players take 6-12 turns to claim land, farm resources, and make the money necessary to not just be top dog among the colonists, but to also help the colony be successful overall at the end of the game.
M.U.L.E. Returns is a prime example of why revisiting the past isn't always the best idea.
It's a clumsy port of a not-particularly-inspiring strategy game that shows its age in every creaking joint and painful loading screen.
Here we go. Now I'll have the M.U.L.E. theme stuck in my head for a week again. So many memories...
