The PS4 Isn't the Only New Console Sony Released Last Week

Last week, Sony released the PlayStation 4 in the Western world, but that wasn't the only PlayStation console to make its debut in stores. Japanese consumers this past week saw the release of Sony's new micro-console, the PlayStation Vita TV.

This needs to come to the west. It sounds like an amazing console.

nidhogg3902d ago

I agree. Problem is, Sony is probably strategizing its release. The company wants a maximum sale of the PS4 first on the West since they fear that Vita TV might overlap the sales of the beloved home consoles. Meanwhile I think that when Asia gets the PS4 launch, the West will get the Vita TV launch in return. BUT SERIOUSLY THOUGH!! FREAKING RELEASE IT NOWWWW!!

Oagoz3902d ago

Would love to have this in my home, Darn you Japan!

Anon19743902d ago

I love the idea of using this as a PS4 extender into other rooms of my house. I'll be all over this once it comes to NA.

Oagoz3902d ago

That actually would be really cool.

Wh15ky3902d ago (Edited 3902d ago )

I've always been a bit confused as to why this has been so well received here since it was first announced, but using it to play your ps4 in another room sounds like a great idea, not too enthralled by any of the other features though.

Does it not give you the option to use the vita as a controller?

Anon19743902d ago

So far I've only seen DualShock 3 and Dualshock 4 compatibility confirmed.

Wh15ky3902d ago

I've always assumed the main reason for this device was to transfer the vita screen to your tv screen.

I find it strange that the vita can't be used as a controller, it completely negates all the efforts developers have made to incorporate the vitas unique control methods.

Compare this little gem to the proposed version of XB1-without game playing?? WTF?

MatrixxGT3902d ago

If they made a ps4 vita tv bundle that would be nice. $500 same as x1 but you can play ps4 in two rooms and never have to unhook anything.

ABizzel13902d ago (Edited 3902d ago )

Hopefully they patch it and it comes with a DualShock 4 so you can use touch controls, because the lack of a touch screen is a killer for some games as seen in the video, but I love that it works so well, and upscaled games smoothly instead of causing harsh AA issues (looking at you BF4 on XBO).

Does this mean that Palworld is getting an anime?

Abnor_Mal16d ago

Crazy that they’ve formed a partnership of sorts, but the game itself still haven’t been released on PlayStation

badz14916d ago

It's still in Early Access. If it ever goes gold, there will definitely be a PS5 version, might even be a PS4 version too

Abnor_Mal16d ago

I still have no clue what this game is all about, to be honest.

badz14916d ago

@Abnor_Mal

If games like ARK is not to your liking, then Palworld wouldn't be your cup of tea either...I think.

What? They don't want to go and crap on the corpse of Tango Gameworks?

C'mon it's the perfect time for a Phil Spencer speech about how they love and want to support Japanese game developers!

Cacabunga21d ago

Xbox is a joke all over, in Japan even more..

IAMRealHooman21d ago

he's not wrong, Japan has been a a notoriously weak market for them, their best performing gen was the 360 and that was only 1 million units

shinoff218322d ago

This is usually my favorite gameshow of the year. Can't wait to see what goodies are coming.

jznrpg22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

10 Best PSP RPGs Of All Time

The PS1 and PS2 both had strong RPG libraries, so it’s not a huge surprise that the PSP saw numerous excellent RPG releases, covering original releases, ports, and spinoffs/sequels to major franchises.
