PS4 Issues Overreported Due to Amazon Trolls?

A commentary examining the recent issues surrounding the PS4 launch. Reports are coming in from multiple news outlets and social media sites that a number of Playstation 4 customers have been having issues with disc drives, Red Lights of Death, and Blue Lights of Death. Several consoles are being reported as DOA (Dead on Arrival), while others are reporting that their console stopped working after a few days of use.

Many of the stories reference Amazon reviews, but also point out that many of the reviews could possibly be faked by Xbox trolls.

There were a select few "Amazon users" that would troll the big PS3 releases and try to ruin the hype. I wouldn't be surprised if there are even more now and this may apply to other products as well(and other websites actually).
Then the standard troll websites turn it into a big deal.

It was one guy from 4Chan that said this about the Thermal Paste I haven't actually heard anything from actual tech people about this problem.

Here's the thing Sony knows about these problem and yes it is a problem. But nobody has any reason to "burn Sony down" because of this. Nobody even really knows what the problem was/is. It could have been Sony's patch, mishandling, sabotage, or just a defect in the system or it could have been people would don't really know tech and started pulling things out and unplugging things when they shouldn't have.

I'm not Sony is right or wrong about this because honestly no one knows. But in the grand scheme of things I don't see this as a disaster. Its just fanboyism, biased reporting, trolls, and my favorite just plan morons.

Not saying the issues do not exist but the percentage is tiny and a lot of the complaints are easily solved if you have a quick look in the manual.

The Xbone will have problems too. Every hardware does. Ever heard of someone getting a faulty camera/tv/phone. etc. It's nothing new, but these people leaving reviews aren't even having problems. Your suggestion would cut down on a number of troll reviews, but is that worth cutting off everyone else? Consider that Amazon revealed that items that items on Amazon have a good number of poor reviews will still sell better than items that simply have few reviews.

Yeah hundreds of Amazon Xbox trolls impersonated PS fans all over the web in PlayStation forums and comment sections of gaming sites. They also impersonated gaming media and reported on the issue.

What ever happened to playing games and enjoying it? Everyone of my friend who are gamers around my age (31 yrs.) could care less about Xbox/PS wars. Its about the games not the console. You know I might get a X1 down the road if they take down the price a bit. But for right now PS4 fits my needs as a gamer so it's the one I'm picking up first.

I always supported Xbox more, but I'm purchasing both consoles this time around and I must say that either I got lucky or the problem with the PS4 is small. I played AC 4 on it for about 2 hours, then right after my girlfriend played it for about 4 hours. After I woke up and she was about done, I felt the console and it didn't feel any warmer than the PS3 or 360 got. I haven't had any problems. I think trolls on both sides need to calm down, simply for the fact that competition helps the industry all around.

I bought my PS4 at Best Buy. Played it for 2 hours and just fired up KZ and the thing DIED. The thing continues to die after about 2 hours of use. Sure some may be Xbox trolls but let's have some sympathy to those who legitimately support Sony and are having problems. Let's see what the ratio of verified to unverified 1 star reviews the xbox one gets and compare it to the PS4 ratio (it's now roughly 4 verified to 1 or 2 unverified. Well it does appear you can make a review without confirmation of purchase. If you look at the review page for 1star, on the first page alone there are 5 unconfirmed buyers giving reviews.
Wait until sat morning and you will no doubt be seeing doom reports over the xb1's as well.
