IGN: Dead Rising 3 Review

IGN: When I finally completed Dead Rising 3, the kill counter in the corner of my screen read 26,978. Also I was wearing a luchador mask for some reason. But anyway, that’s a really big number. It’s like killing one zombie per second for seven and a half hours, though I played far longer than that. The fact that I’m still ready and willing to go for another round with a co-op buddy is a good sign that Dead Rising 3 is packing enough variety and goofy action to make it a good time.

I wonder how many zombies someone has to kill to get the Genocide achievement? My guess is around half a million. Anyone else want to guess? Super excited to kill all those zombies. The short time I played it was the most fun I have had in a while.

Edit: Then again.... Forza and Ryse could be more fun.... =D

I have played most of the launch games for the next gen systems and in my opinion this is the most fun game. It just put a giant smile on my face. So excited for the game!

Okay... for me, PlayRoom has been the most "fun". Yeah, it's basically an AR demo, but every preview I saw, the people playing were laughing and having fun. Then when I played it with my wife and friend, we were laughing and having fun. Just my 2 cents on "most fun".

How is this a good review? The reviewer lists a mountain of problems and yet slams a 8.3 on it contradicting everything they mentioned. Bad story, awkward slow clunky controls, struggles to run on next gen hardware, 720p & 30fps or less. Also the whole fun argument, I can't argue with because that is completely based on personal preference. I can see how it is fun for maybe an hour or two, after that there is nothing there.

Does anyone else see an enormous amount of Saints Row influence in this third installment in particular? I'm happy this game didn't tank because of trivial things such as technical performance, because it just looks like loads of fun.

What I'm getting out of all the reviews are if you've played a Dead Rising game and liked it you're probably going to really like DR3 - unless the quirky humor (outside of weapons/outfits) is really important to you. If you didn't like any of the previous Dead Rising games, then you're not going to like DR3.

I'm curious how the game will fair with all of the Xbox One buyers who haven't played a Dead Rising game before but get DR3 because it's a launch game. That is what will really matter for the franchise going forward.

I loved #1...couldn't stand #2. My main gripe was having to constantly return to my daughter character to give her zombrex.

I wanted to explore have some fun. That killed it for me.

So I look forward to dead rising 3. No timer bs!!

yeah its not agame where you will get bore you can do several things can have graet time with it ,i remeber kz got 8 more for its graphics and satisfieng multiplayer but still you can have that great time as you will this game ,if ignoring technical issues and getting fixes ,i think we can understand it as 9 ,yeah but you cant change silly story and confusing map but still so far the best launch title and i expect ryse to be more good. oh ki also got 8.5 thats an outstanding deal.

I am slightly bored of Zombies...this game does look fun but I'm more excited for dying light.

Still I'm shocked this got a good score, it seems like dead rising is once again becoming a good game since it's a console exclusive they actually do it properly.

Killer instinct I had so much hate for because it felt like a quick cash grab, but I actually enjoyed playing it. I went to my local bestbuy when I went to pick up my ps4, and I played it for a good half an hour. Now I didn't really know what I was doing cuz I suck, but the graphics are charming even at 720p and the gameplay was fun!

I'd like to see what Forza will do, I think their reduction in cars and I heard tracks and features might hurt them!

Geez. Am I the only one getting burned out from review scores? Maybe that's a side effect of having two next-gen systems being released so close to one another.

Plus, after playing Knack all weekend, I just don't know how to put any faith into these scores anymore. Knack is supposed to be mediocre to bad, but it's incredible. It's really, really fun. So how did it get such low scores?

The nice thing going forward is the ability to watch others live-stream gameplay is going to be so easy, review scores won't matter. Just hop in, watch as long as you want, and make up your own mind.

I watched people playing...madden, nba live and 2k14, knack, kill zone, bf4. It is an amazing addition to next gen.

Watch gamers...comment...hey questions answered. It's especially cool when watching sports. Watched a guy play his my player in nba2k14 ..almost came back from 15 down. But he got benched the last 5 minutes and they lost.

Yeah, I thought exactly the same thing when I first tried out the live-stream gameplay on PS4. A great way to see what the gameplay actually is like. Video reviews are nice but given the time constraints and the points that reviewers like to cover in their reviews, you don't always get a good feel for the gameplay.

Such an odd score. 8.3. How do they calculate the score I wonder? Given that the score can increment 1/10 of a point over 10 points, the score is based on 0 - 100 score like a grade school test.
