All 24 Of The PS4's Launch Games, Reviewed | Kotaku

Kotaku: On day one of Sony's console launch, there are 24 games you can pick up to play on it. We've either reviewed or spent time with all of them. So here are our thoughts, in micro-review form.

I have 3 of them coming on the 29th, I just hope they turn out to be a great bunch of games :P

(Got 2 more coming next year)

Livecustoms4183d ago

Am i the only one worried the servers are gonna go to shit on the 29th. On the 15th the servers kept going down and that was 1 country imagine how much traffic their gonna get on the 29th !

GentlemenRUs4183d ago (Edited 4183d ago )

Who knows! Maybe things might be a little better thanks to the US launch testing it out for us UK/EU folk :P

Ridiculous that Killzone isn't getting the same treatment with concerns to MP as Call of Duty and Battlefield. If the MP is anything like KZ2, the Mp is going to be far more appealing to me than COD and Battlefield. Both COD and Battlefield have 4 hr long SP for Vishnu's sake.

People are welcome to their opinion on their review, but Killzone gets smacked for doing much of the same, whereas COD gets a free pass a lot of the time (is mentioned here, but doesnt make a definitive decision based on it).

I'm so done with reviews, all based on agendas it seems these days, this goes for all platforms.

Totally agree - I'm going to withhold my final judgement until I've played KZ and BF (Ghosts won't get a run until sometime next year, I'm in no rush), but if history is any guide, Killzone's getting marked down for being just a little different to the larger, more mainstream shooters. Same old video games journalism - they complain of always getting the same thing over and over, then complain when someone does something different ;).

Bathyj4183d ago

As a single player gamer, Killzone is the ONLY choice for me. Plus no other shooter has the same kind of intensity or AI as Killzone, not to mention the open nature and choice of style in the gameplay, and the options offloaded you the owl.

But reviewers will still hold their grudges, because Killzone had a CGI trailer in 2007.

iamnsuperman4183d ago (Edited 4183d ago )

Because people havnt really liked Killzone. I completely agree with you and is the number one reason why I buy what looks interesting and do my own reviews (at the end of the day the games I play I am at least slightly interested in to start with; like the people who also pick up the game)

Inconsistently is rife in the industry as you don't technically need qualifications to be picked up. You just have to show you can write. So things aren't looked at objectively and personal bias gets into it (where the whole these are my opinions rubbish comes in because a review should be objective and personal opinions should get in the way). I am getting this at launch (UK guy here) so we will see

insomnium24183d ago (Edited 4183d ago )

Ummmm... did their review of KZ actually say "should you play it --> NO"? FFS I'm done with Kotaku. Never again!

GentlemenRUs4183d ago (Edited 4183d ago )

Yet Kotaku has a 2-star rating on N4G...

They can be a bunch of idiots sometimes.

The reviews of cod and battlefield pretty much ignored the single player and reviewed multi, kill zone is a good all round package yet it gets ridiculous reviews like this. If people are undecided about the game I highly recommend it, single player is fun and the multi is brilliant so much flexibility in game type.

I take reviews with a pinch of salt. Everyones different and i prefer user reviews as you get a better view from different people who you may relate to.

Over the years ive seen reviews for games, even films that have amazing or rubbish marks. But i found it the opposite way around in most cases.

I'm wondering if I buy a physical copy from Japan if it would automatically download the English patch.

ZeekQuattro5h ago

Might want to double check. A good number of times Japanese copies of games won't let you switch to English. I usually just get the Korean versions of anything I import for that very reason.

jznrpg4h ago

Like Zeek said bout the Asian version just in case. There are cases where Japanese have English options but it’s not very common

Saw that Balatro got over 100000! Reviews on Steam. Crazy.

Only game from these three I care about is Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun since it seems to be a nice fps.

darthv7210h ago

boltgun is pretty damn fun... I have it on my steamdeck and it is crazy good.

DefenderOfDoom29h ago

I bought Warhammer Boltgun for the PS4. Very fun retro style FPS !

Damn, I thought the Until Dawn Remake was going to be one. Not a month for me.

Yui_Suzumiya9h ago

Boltgun is so much fun. I own it on Steam, PS4 and Switch (Physical). Beaten it so many times that I could probably get through it in my sleep, lol.
