Yes, The PS4 Can Stand Vertically--Without Help

Kotaku writes " You keep asking, so we're going to answer. The PS4, like the fat PS3 and Xbox 360 before it can stand without a stand. "

I'd still get the stand. it makes it look aesthetically pleasing. I still have my PS2 fat with the official stand and that thing looks sweet in the upright position.

$15 for the stand? Wow... and it still wobbles with some pressure (albeit not as much).

Never been a vertical person myself, this bad boy will sit horizontally on my TV stand when I do get one.

EDIT - am I getting disagrees because I am placing the console horizontally? Or because I said that even placed vertically with the stand it still moves with a little bit of pressure applied? I am merely repeating what was demonstrated in the video. I was suggesting that the $15 stand wasn't doing much extra that the console on its side did on its own without the stand..

Just don't press on the console while you're playing wobble gone!! magic.

Neonridr3599d ago

I don't know why anyone would even touch their console while they are playing, unless they were ejecting a game disc. If a console is standing vertical, that rule applies even more.

wait for some third party to make a fancy stand that will probably sell for the same price. i don't think i will be using one will just have it stand against the wall

I bought a Mad Catz stand for my ps3 slim. It was $10, and gave me 4 USB ports.
Something like that is what I will hold out for.

@ neondir:

you're getting disagrees because you're crying about it wobbling if you knock the system when it's standing upright (even with the stand). stand your X360 or your slim PS3 upright (if you have one), and do the same thing.... you'll notice that it wobbles, too!

Neonridr3599d ago

I'm in no way crying about it wobbling. I don't personally stand any electronics on their side. I don't like the idea of a disc being sideways for some reason, lol.

I shouldn't get disagrees because I am pointing out a simple fact.

Studio-YaMi3599d ago

I agree with you, even with the stand it's still wobbling, the PS4 has some issues with it,nothing that would REALLY bug you or a deal breaker by any means but STILL these issues have to be acknowledged by the Sony fanbase & call out Sony on these issues so that Sony Playstation division can fix this for their next PS4 model.

Good call Neonridr.

Why would you want to block up the vents? Are you crazy?

Get the stand so that you still have the vents for airflow at the bottom.

ziggurcat3599d ago

what vents on the bottom? as far as anyone knows, all of the vents are on the back of the console.

feraldrgn3599d ago (Edited 3599d ago )

360 degree view of the PS4, mouse wheel zooms.
There are vents in the sides (both sides).

Yes if you stand it vertically, there is still a bit of airflow, but not as good as if you stood it horizontally or with the stand (the stand has vents).

It would also be safer to buy the stand, to lessen the chances of it being knocked over.

Sarcasm3599d ago

Dude that's an awesome render

GentlemenRUs3599d ago (Edited 3599d ago )

And there we have it!

Though, I prefer mine to sit under the unit :P

Unit = British slang for TV table.

NeloAnjelo3599d ago

But not recommended as it can tip over with a little effort.

The stand supports it better.

Never seen a company milk a franchise so much and deliver nothing of value. How about some actually expansions?

I can’t believe how far off this game is from the greatness of the first.
