What a great indicator of the badassery to come.

Remote play standardization is next gen.

Requesting permission to use badassery in my everyday conversations

SpinalRemains1384246d ago

Ha. I cannot rightfully give permission for something which I neither invented nor own.

The word has been around. I'm pretty sure anyway.

Vitalogy4246d ago

It is badass indeed and I will not excuse lazy devs for not including the feature in their games or even take too long to.

He is not wrong^

Badassery and perving are my two favorite words

This is awesome. The fact that it takes so little time and very minimal resources to implement remote play just reassures to me that most games will have remote play. Even the devs of Blacklight Retribution got it running on the Vita in a day...

Um, Wii U has had this feature since it's release. I never understand why Nintendo's ideas are considered gimmicks yet when Sony does the same thing it's considered an innovation. -_-
That being said, this is a pretty cool feature although i'm still not convinced enough to buy a vita.

Seraphemz4246d ago

There is a difference though. With the WiiU you have to be a certain distance.

With the Vita, you can be anywhere with a Wifi signal.. ( much better IMO )

Gridloc4246d ago (Edited 4246d ago )

The PSP had remote play way before the WI U released (although it didn't work very well it was still first).

Baka-akaB4246d ago (Edited 4246d ago )

Well i dont consider it really an innovation either way . it's nice that's all .

I'm just annoyed Nintendo would push it as a whole different gaming experience at the expense of directly competing with the other twos .

Even more so annoyed when in the end in most games it ends up just being a secondary map and inventory screens for less pretty and tech intensive titles (compared to the ps4/xb1 i mean) .

So yeah it is a gimmick , when i can do the same for say a Fifa , with better graphs and perf on ps4 and XB1 with a tab or the vita

PS : Hell nothing prevented some sort of beefy WII2 + 3ds touch control combo instead . What would even be lost in the process ?

I took a WiiU forced by a few of its (late) upcoming exclusives .. not at all what i still perceive as gimmicks

Protagonist4246d ago

Been on N4G for years now, I can´t recall anyone saying Nintendos remote function was a gimmick...anyway Nintendo did not come up with it first... It was already implemented for the PSP/PS3...I was playing Blazblue through my PS3 to my PSP in 2010.

Yup, no excuse unless the game uses camera or something odd which would be obvious.

if its that simple to implement and it works as well as everyone has been saying this is a truly unique next gen feature. I got my vita now if only my ps4 could be here now ...

SuperBlur4246d ago

my ps4 is better be built to last , Vita + Tv add on , can't wait ! :D

GirlOnFire4246d ago

Shows how PS4 and Vita work so easy together! I definitely love this feature. I need to buy a new charger my cat chewed it up. O_o

Xsilver4246d ago

Hell yeah that's awesome PS4/Vita here i come.

Assassin's Creed: The Argument For a Total Franchise Reboot

Assassin's Creed has been hard done by in the past several years despite its success, and as messy as it could be, it might be time for a reboot.

They already did that in 2017 with origins. I don’t think a reboot is on the cards when Ubisoft is about to go down under lol

I hope the splinter cell remake sees the light of day before the company closes

Inverno118d ago

I doubt they'll be closing, but they are primed to be eaten up by a bigger comp. Also 2017 was nearly a decade ago, it could use another reboot or rather it should just be retired.

RaidenBlack117d ago

Origins was the reboot.
But that also alienated the original AC lovers, abit. Not everybody adores the perma-change of the IP to be vast RPGs.
What I instead propose is, alternate between Valhalla/Shadows type AC RPGs and Mirage/ACII like non-RPG releases.

PrecursorOrb118d ago

It’d be nice if they made parkour feel new

monkey602118d ago

Put the series to bed, It's tired! Revisit your stagnant properties.

Profchaos118d ago

What do you do when you've already milked everything dry

Noskypeno117d ago

What is old might feel new again. A new splinter cell with semi open levels but still having a linear structure (not just one giant open world) that have multiple paths to complete the objective but still have stealth be the main priority would feel fresh, especially with modern graphics and military gadgets .

FinalFantasyFanatic117d ago

I agree, from anecdotal evidence, all franchises eventually stagnate, it might be a good time to start something new.

PRIMORDUS118d ago

"it might be time for a reboot." No it might be time to put this shit to rest for a few yrs. A good 4-5 then come back.

Profchaos118d ago

Total franchise reboot. This ac game is basically the hail Mary to keep Ubisoft alive if this fails the share price will be so low they will be forced to sell and likely absorbed into another org as the Ubisoft name carries almost no weight.

Don't get me wrong they will end up selling after ac regardless but it will be the difference of getting the deal they want vs the deal they don't

A Wild West Setting Doesn't Seem Too Bad For Assassin's Creed

With many wondering what route the franchise should take next, Assassin's Creed should finally visit the Wild West era.

Tell me how that's going to be significantly different than colonial America. AC is about showcasing different cultures throughout history. They already did Native Americans in AC3, so then just cowboys, outlaws, ranchers, etc? Kinda feel like there's already a game out there that does that really freaking well. Hmmm, maybe the one in the thumbnail?
