Xbox One Supports Only 1080p or 720p Resolutions, No 1080i in the Options

After getting his Xbox One early due to a shipping mistake by Target, twitter user Moonlightswami is sharing basically every single detail you may want to know about the Xbox One.

Interestingly enough, he shared the video and audio options of the console, and there's no option for 1080i, so if you have an old "HD Ready" TV, you'll be limited to 720p.

Oh come on Abriael. The 1080i thing was not needed, I'm sure folks could figure that out.

EDIT

yeah no harm, I was just grumping. I only asked him to give the very basics. Xbox has a *optimal Resolution* setting that will scale to the TV's top capability.

I was just messing with you.

EDIT 2

To all

Post what you wan't to know about the XB1 and I'll ask Baadfood.

EDIT 3

BaadFood

"The one thing this doesnt mention is the 24fps setting for movies. YOu can set it to 24fps"

EDIT 4

"Games can only be in standby mode for 20 minutes"

Abriael4231d ago

It is a pretty interesting omission, which is why I included it.

Comnnsence4231d ago

"Xbox one only supports 1080p or 720p"

Ok, so why "Ryse, 900p"?

OMFG......well just trying to give them the befit of doubt!

bigboirock4231d ago

Comnnsence

upscale games up to 1080

rainslacker4231d ago

@Comnnsence

That's native resoltion. This article is talking about output resolution.

mikeslemonade4230d ago

If you are gaming in the next-gen you should be either already own atleat a 1080p TV with atleast 60hz or planning getting one soon.

Stop doing yourself a disfavor and espcially those still playing games on 480i. SMH at those people who don't know what they are missing.

FamilyGuy4230d ago (Edited 4230d ago )

This is pretty cool, getting to know all this info including the stuff MS isn't allowing the gaming journalist to talk about yet.

I hope he knows we're thankful to hear his answers.

This is pretty funny though, the X1 comes out on the 22nd and he's got his before the PS4 even launches. That means, that MS coooould have launched earlier, the supply is obviously in some company warehouses already.

Blacksand14230d ago

The XB1 is 720p with a 1080p up-scaled because MS tried to make it a t.v hub first and a gaming console second. My Fios is 720p reg. channels and 1080p on HD channels. When you mix the two that's what you get 720p with a up-scaled of 1080p, because of t.v part of the console.

"If you are gaming in the next-gen you should be either already own atleat a 1080p TV with atleast 60hz or planning getting one soon."

I spent $4,000 of my own money for a 62 inch 1080i/720p TV 8 years ago. It works well and I have no intention of buying a new TV until it dies or 4K becomes reasonably priced.

Some people still have 1080i TVs like my family for example.

Nexus 7 2013

DoctorJones4231d ago

Well instead of getting a Nexus 7 you should have got a decent tv instead.

My PC 2013.

MasterCornholio4231d ago

@Doctor Jones

Lol I don't need a TV to play video games which is why I have my 1080P monitor. And thank god I have my tablet since I use it a lot for school. Its pretty conviente having all your notes in the same place.

Nexus 7 2013

colt-of-tipton4231d ago

pretty much every tv that says HD ready can support both 720p and 1080i so it isn't a problem for you.

Benchm4rk4231d ago

All 1080i tvs support 720p so you wont need to worry. 720p is better than 1080i for games aswell

mursumaki4230d ago

I have old SD TV and I have never played with HD tv :)

humbleopinion4230d ago (Edited 4230d ago )

1080i TVs can also do 720p as well, so you better simply set it to proper 720p because 1080i is practically the equivalent of 540p with even and odd lines interlaced.
It's not even proper HD, and you can't get 60fps over 1080i so you practically lose all the advantage in games that support it.

4lc4pon34230d ago

you don't need to upgrade your TV your tv does 720p. That's all the Xbone can do anyways

AngelicIceDiamond4231d ago

What do they mean by "old “HD Ready."

colt-of-tipton4231d ago

When HD tv first appeared they were only "HD ready " which meant they displayed only 720p and 1080i , but later on "Full HD " was introduced which meant your tv could display full 1920 x 1080 (1080p).

falviousuk4230d ago

They are just marketing terms. nothing more

There is no real FULL HD if there was then would we not be saying 1080p is old and 4k is the FULL HD.

No, these were marketing terms made up to get you to purchase tv's

MidnytRain4230d ago

falviousuk

I thought they were calling 4k "ultra HD."

MightyNoX4231d ago

Don't mind me, I just want to see how many edits you're gonna reach.

M-M4231d ago (Edited 4231d ago )

Why would you want 1080i through HDMI? This is so irrelevant, interlacing is pretty much for analog video, it's rare to see it through a digital cable. 720p is actually better than 1080i, it displays 720 lines at once instead of 540 alternating fields(540 odd fields, 540 even). That doesn't take away from the fact that 1080p is better than both though(displaying 1080 lines at once, no alternating fields).

Animal Mutha 764230d ago

I've used 1080i over hdmi for years. My 40" Bravia is 1080i or 1366x768 over VGA. I used to use component (I like the image quality) but switched to hdmi when I got my 360 S

It matters to me. I don't want to use 720p.

I'm surprised the scaler can't do me a 1080i output....

ELpork4231d ago

OHH DEAR GOD! Enough with the resolution nonsense. Nobody cares.

MasterCornholio4231d ago

All my TVs are 1080i so I care.

But I game on my 1080P monitor.

Nexus 7 2013

Fireseed4231d ago

If your TV is 1080i, it's also 720p. Try checking facts before posting.

Shakengandulf4231d ago

I agree with M-M above, i'd go with 720p mastercornholio.
1080p>720p>1080i>576 p... I never upscale if i have the option.

MasterCornholio4231d ago (Edited 4231d ago )

@Fireseed

I already know that but I'm not the one gaming at 1080i. Know a little bit more about me before replying. Now we see the issue with information assymetries.

P.S And before you say anything I know that the majority of PS3 games are 720P and under except for a few titles like Wipeout for example (which has a dynamic resolution so it isn't 1080P 100% of the time)

Nexus 7 2013

esemce4231d ago

Playing games in your TV's native resolution is the best option really, If your TV supports max res of 1080i then it will probably also support 1360x768p or 720p which on my old TV looks way better than 1080i.

neocores4231d ago

FYI this guy who leaked all his stuff his console just got banned for leaking info they dont understand that there are street dates and NDA rules well hes the idiot

alexkoepp4231d ago

NDA and street dates aren't something that affect the end user... he did not sign a NDA nor is he responsible for knowing the street date of the console. He bought it legally, whomever he bought it from might be in trouble.

neocores4231d ago

Lol not knowing the street date im sure every one does nov 22 lol :D watch this guy will be unbanned when the date is removed

alexkoepp4231d ago

could be. also when he was setting it up if a terms of service came up something may have been in there, if he accepted them and this is what happened it's his own fault

BG115794231d ago

@neocores So why does MS unlocks delivery before the 22nd of this month, if you can't play with the system?
He obviously add access to the first update to use the console, so...

esemce4231d ago

He does not have to abide by and street dates or NDA's FFS damn subservient sheeple make me sick.
