In One's Sights: A Look at the Xbox One's User Interface and Features

It's exactly two weeks until the Xbox One releases, and if the excitement wasn't boiling over already, Microsoft has released a full rundown of how the user interface will look and the features that the console will have.

I like the fact that you can minimize the game screen and browse the menu. Seems smooth.

KingTrash4246d ago

It's amazing to me that more people don't seem to be blown away by this. They're delivering in a big way with this UI. I'm really impressed!

AutoCad4246d ago

They are blown away but dont want to show it or say it.

smoothop4246d ago

I think most people are impressed, its just a certain crowd won't admit it.

LoTuZ4246d ago

I think its nice and smooth. Did they sacrifice anything to have this ui implimented?

smoothop4246d ago (Edited 4246d ago )

I think they might have sacrificed a bit of power, but its worth it in my opinion as it won't be that much for what you get in return. The Xbox was designed to be like this from the start and if gamer's want the best graphics possible its PC all the way.

Exclusive games, quality online and slick innovative features will drive this gen. Later in the consoles life cloud will be a massive thing.

Eonjay4246d ago (Edited 4246d ago )

"At the end of the day it will be the games that convince people to buy their console, not biometric log-in, voice commands, or the ability for your friends to spoil a good movie."

That basically sums it up. Its about the games. Voice control is nice but at the end of the day, the Xbox One's biggest feature needs to be the games.

nukeitall4246d ago

Actually, it is about entertainment. Most peoples entertainment in the living room consist of watching TV, listening to music and to some games.

That is exactly what MS provided and more so than any other competitor!

BBBirdistheWord4246d ago

@ nuke

agreed.

I am getting the xbo. Purely and simply because it does so much more. Of course, it has the games as well.

At the end of the day both ps4 and xbo will have great games. However the user implementation and all round entertainment solution on xbo wins it for me.

No brainer, really.

Eonjay4246d ago

@Bird

I respectfully disagree but I do acknowledge your right to desire the entertainment experience that is right for you. For me, the Xbox wont offer any meaningful value besides the games that it can offer me. I am very satisfied with the entertainment package on or coming to the PS4, but its all about the games for me. Next week, when I pick up my system, its Killzone that has me more pumped than anything else entertainment wise.

For Xbox, the thing that has me most pumped is Titan Fall, a game.

This is like the ultimate entertainment system. I can watch porn while I play games and switch back and forth almost seamlessly.

Boody-Bandit4246d ago (Edited 4246d ago )

I can hear your friends online now. "Konosoru I'm taking this base. You got my back? Konosoru? Konosoru!"

Your other friends, "OMG he is watching porn again!"

Just make sure you sterilize your controller before letting others use it.
Oh and mute your mic. Nobody wants to hear that. j/k

dansdooz4246d ago

I agree most of the gaming sites seem impressed, many people trying to play it down, the fact is i think theyve got something a bit special here and if it works as advertised will be great!

Obscure_Observer4246d ago

Yeah. All that talk about "Smoke and Mirrors" and shady agenda about the X1´s UI seems to be fading away.

But fanboys rather been silent than posting ANY positive comments about X1.

BBBirdistheWord4246d ago

Yeah. weird huh.

Did CBOAT actually apologise for getting this wrong?
Or is he busy concocting another false rumour?

JokesOnYou4245d ago (Edited 4245d ago )

Is the Sun hot?....You bet he is.

My question is where is sony's preview walkthrough of the ps4 UI, not Yoshida controlling everything by himself in the dark, seriously I was just naturally expecting a host of detail looks at ps4 leading up to this time before launch, sure they have the launch event but those are usually party like affairs showing all the games, overview of system features, promotions, future plans etc nothing really in depth but we'll see, I don't follow ps4 nearly as much but just did some searching to answer some questions and the lack of info just seems strange.
