Upcoming Xbox One murderfest Ryse: Son of Rome doesn't have superpowers, magic, or boss fights with mythical titans, but it might be just as violent as PlayStation's God of War series.
It's certainly been cleaned up quite a bit from the E3 build. That was expected. Question is, does this game have the legs to become a stand-out franchise? Visuals are there, but is there enough creativity to separate itself from games like GOW and other top tier hack n slashes?
That's a good question. We shall see. As for the God of War reference I don't see any real similarities since Ryse has a more realistic approach. oooh, I love these sp gameplay pics: http://venturebeat.files.wo... http://venturebeat.files.wo... http://venturebeat.files.wo...
and how about that earth shaking shield smash, very realistic.

I think this is Xbox One's Red Steel.
I'd say I'm more interested in God of War's style, but man, they put out too many games in that series, so I'm cool with trying something new for once.
It's a different type of game, really. And don't compare yourself to the best out there. It's horrible for your self-esteem.
"It definitely isn’t a God of War clone, but from what I’ve seen so far, it’s something that might surprise Kratos fans if they’re in the market for an Xbox One system." Why would a Kratos fan be in the market for an XBO? That being said Ryse looks good graphically, but I can already tell this game is going to get pans by most gamers and journalist because as he said 90 minutes in you begin to notice you're doing the same thing. That's a nice way of saying the game gets very repetitive. The fact that it was a Kinect Game first, doesn't really bode well, especially seeing the other Kinect game (Crimson Dragon) was an onrails shooter and remained an onrails shooter, so I have a feeling Ryse is still going to be EXTREMELY linear. An articles like this don't help http://n4g.com/news/1388221...
Even with this kind of clarification, I see a lot of purposeful consumer ignorance in this game's future...
