PlayStation EU Points Out Again That Call of Duty: Ghosts is Running At 1080p Only on PlayStation 4

Previously, PlayStation Germany posted a picture on their official twitter account which took a shot at Xbox One which runs Call of Duty: Ghosts at a native resolution of 720p and upscales the game to 1080p. PlayStation 4 on the other hand runs Call of Duty: Ghosts natively at 1080p resolution. That picture and tweet was deleted as fast as it surfaced, probably because it demonstrated a bit of unprofessionalism from the gaming giant.

Years of being the underdog maybe? Years of Xbox fans boasting that multiplats looked better on the 360? (which they did mostly). Now Sony are doings things right and giving gamers what they want, why shouldn't they brag?

This website may be pro Sony now, but it used to be Pro 360, the PS3 used to get A LOT of slack.

I say, if you've got it, flaunt it. As long as it isn't offensive. Stating your consoles abilities and strengths on the back of a games box isn't a big deal in my opinion.

Septic1807d ago (Edited 1807d ago )

Sony...underdogs?! Lol what?! They blustered in this gen riding high on the monopoly they enjoyed in the industry and got shot down to modesty by the Xbox 360. They however, were by no means an underdog lol.

The PS3 got a lot of slack for the right reasons. Now the X1 is getting it too, and rightly so.

But to be honest, if I were Sony, I would do the same thing too. They shouldn't be shy from having the best next-gen console version of the game. They should be proud of that. This is business after all. Get the message out if you have to scream from the rooftops I say.

abzdine1807d ago

now that's good and FREE ad for them.

xHeavYx1807d ago

Nothing wrong with starting the truth, same way everyone used to say COD looked better on the 360

mewhy321807d ago

They're just stating the facts that are all over the web now for everyone to see, some to turn a blind eye to, but for everyone to see.

Personally I think Sony should make this part of the marketing campaign. Inform your consumers that you have an edge over your direct competitor. It's makes good business sense.

It wouldn't be like they were lying or deceiving the public. It's the truth. If I was in Sony's position there is no way I would've deleted that tweet. Again, it's the truth. Inform your potential consumers Sony. Let them know you are offering more for less.

Personally I think if Sony was to shout this from the roof tops the media and developers would have to answer these questions honestly instead of pulling the duck and dodge as to not offend MS.

AlexanderNevermind1807d ago (Edited 1807d ago )

@ Brutallyhonest,

Yes they should make it part of their PS4 marketing. If your product is proven better then let the consumer know. And as last gen would let you know, MS would have no problem doing the same.

As a consumer if I can get the best looking game for one console over another then I would like to know.

You don't hear any best on Xbox at the end of their commercials anymore. What you hear is get DLC 1st on Xbox.

because ms would have done the same, maybe even more and we all know it example

when the ps3 came with composite cables MS had a field day with that one

@ lukas

i remember those times especially the final fantasy megaton bomb. lol see below video and die of hilarity

thank me later :)

@ Majoraly

especially as some developers and gaming media keep using the phrase "they are both similar" when talking about next gen consoles

MasterCornholio1807d ago

I still remember the time when Microsoft announced GTA4 as an exclusive for Xbox One. Then there was that freaky guy who tore off his shirt to show off a GTA4 tattoo. Can't remember what his name was.

I think they want to send a clear message to those who may confuse Xbox One and PS4 versions. Activision also printed Offline Mode Enabled as a feature on the back cover of PS4 copies, probably to clarify that you don't need to be online everytime to play as Xbox One's DRM first suggested.

And the recent Adam Sessler drama where he states that the resolution is not an issue and such, I think the organizations are taking steps to clearly show and send their message that multiplat versions are now pretty different.

Jury1807d ago

Because it's a selling point and this is an advertisement. This really shouldn't need to be explained

DeadRabbits1807d ago

Because the PS4 is the only true next gen console out this year!

MethCupcakes1807d ago

MikeGdaGod1807d ago

its called advertising...and there are plenty of people that don't know anything

sweendog1807d ago

I knew that common denominator talk was a load of crap. Only this gen has multiplat games looked better on the weaker system because of the difficulties of development on the PS3. NES games looked better than Master System, SNES games looked better than Mega Drive/Genesis, N64 to the PS1, Xbox to PS2. The only blip is 360/PS3. in all other instances better hardware=better looking games.

How is it mocking another company to point out what your system can do? This is getting ridiculous. I've seen lots of TV manufacturers mocking other TV manufacturers too! And don't get me started on toothpaste ... Damn those stripes! How dare they!?

edit: Headline changed, but I enjoy talking about toothpaste so I refuse to change my comment.

sigfredod1807d ago

This is not mocking is just stating a fact, not very subtle add? yes but not mocking

Fishy Fingers1807d ago

Nothing unprofessional about it, if I worked for Sony I'd of been shouting this from the mountain tops.

Godhimself_In_3d1807d ago

So M$ can brag about having the best version or DLC First and its cool. But Sony does it and its unprofessional? The n4g/xbox double standard.
