The recent PlayStation commercial conjured up a whole bunch of memories, but will Sony ever hit those notes again?
Whats up with IGN's videocasts lately?
Lol are they serious?! If anything they are as strong as ever! People are calling the PS4 the next PS2.....and we all know how glorious the PS2 was. They have the best devs in the business, the more powerful console, cheaper price point, great relationship with their fans. This gen could be the best for Sony, glory days gone for Sony?......HA!
It's an honest question. I don't think they're saying they're actually gone, especially if this gen's exclusives are any indication. IGN gave: The Last of Us a 10. Uncharted 3 a 10 Metal Gear Solid 4 a 10 Uncharted 2 a 9.5 LittleBigPlanet a 9.5 Demon's Souls a 9.4 Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction a 9.4 God of War 3 a 9.3 LittleBigPlanet a 9 Heavy Rain a 9 Valkyria Chronicles a 9 Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time a 9 Journey a 9 Flower a 9 etc.
As well as: Killzone 2 a 9.4 Resistance: Fall of Man a 9.1 Resistance 2 a 9.5 Resistance 3 a 9 They've rated almost every PS3 exclusive with 9 or above.
@Enemy - You can add Ni No Kuni and Infamous 2 to that list as well. @Lukas- Please..just stop. Your reinforcing the N4G stereotype that we defend corporations as if they were our first borns. You needlessly hopped into defense mode. Anyone who listens to Podcast Beyond and keeps track of Shuhei's friendly back and forths on Twitter with Greg and Colin (not to mention exclusive interviews between them) knows that IGN and Sony have a very passionate relationship. Shuhei even tweeted Daemon during the Sony conference at E3 with a smiley face saying "Hi Daemon".
@enemy In fact, the question is not even posed by ign. It was a reader question. Further more, the spend the video explaining why sony is about to bring it this gen. I wonder if people actually even watched the video.
Only 2 weeks to go! TWO WEEKS! http://tinyurl.com/kfaksel http://tinyurl.com/pbe8cux http://tinyurl.com/mdvp9gk
@Angels "Whats up with IGN's videocasts lately? " I think someone didn't get their review copy PS4...
Face it: The glory days of the PS1-PS3 are gone. The Golden Age of the PS4 begins.
Seriously. First the crap about PlayStation games not selling, now this? Two weeks before the PS4 comes out? Something's fishy.
Its natural to hate against the top dog, although i have to question IGN's motives. Trying to create doubt amongst PS/Sony fans at this point is futile.
@OllieBoy and Lukas_Japonicus did u guys watch the video? it was simply a readers question thats all. and its a valid question I'd say. nobody in the video is really bashing PlayStation
The best thing Sony did was to hire Cerny. This decision will turn Sony's profit margin around and make them the lead console supplier this gen.
They're mad that their horse is getting its ass kicked royally.
Long. Live. Play.
New game reveals on the 14th I really don't see this being the case about 3 generations of top exclusives and considering PS4 is important to them why would they stop providing great content now....
The Glory Days are still coming.
Well that's just professional grade clickbait. Good pull, IGN.
I don't know why some people hear are taking the question so personally. It's a good question to ask at this point. We're heading into a new gen and playstation has reached some impressive highs, so naturally the question of whether the gravy train can continue is fair. I feel like some of you are missing the point a little.
But given that everything is pointing to the gravy train continuing, it seems a silly question to ask. Or answer, as the case may be. It's pointed out that this is an IGN user-posed question, and that's fine. But them choosing it to respond to in such a serious manner almost makes it seem as if they're the ones asking. ESPECIALLY with that title.
Ok sooo im gonna get so many disagrees for this one buuuut, sony fans need to really stop being so anal about everything they hear if its a good thing they dont shuttup about it and if its even hinting at a bad thing they start to cover their ears and go lalalalalala. I listen to podcast beyond every week "the number one playstion podcast on the internet" and i gotta say. Greg Miller, Andrew Goldfarb, and Colin Moriarty all keep it real. And yea sometimes their opinion will differ from others but who gives a crap. These guys love playstation and thats all that matters. PS THEY ALL HAD GOOD THINGS TO SAY IN THIS VIDEO
Nah. The Playstation 4 is looking to be one of the strongest consoles released in general. I see good things for Sony moving forward. Playstation 4 seems to be Sony returning to form right out of the gate.
Well said. I agree. Sony is making all the right moves lately. Feels like the ps2 days all over again.
at least the ps2 could play Audio CDs .. ok bad Joke shoot me
Oxygen. Do we really need it? What a dumbarsed question.
"Oxygen. Do we really need it?" The answer may surprise you....more on action news at 10 with Dirk Metro and Jeanie Silver!!! LOL That just sounded like one of those goofy "teasers" that American news outlets release damn near daily with absolutely NO NEWS to be had in the end.
IGN are furiously trying to balance things out. Theyve seen the pre order totals and the BOTS on their staff are running round like Headless chickens flapping like the fools they are. These articles kind of nail it...the glory days are back.
so is no one going to actually watch the video? Some of you are sounding like giant n4g stereotypes.
Nobody does anything beyond reading headlines anymore. Too much work apparently.
It was the sheer amount of JRPG's that defined my PS1/PS2 glory days: Dragon Quest series, Grandia series, Final Fantasy series, Suikoden series, Star Ocean series, etc. I just hope that PS4 has a bigger catalog of JRPGs than what the PS3 had.
they haven't really announced much on the gaming front to know if the glory days are indeed back but they are taking steps towards it. but with the upcoming games blowout on spike and the years to follow she shall know the answers then.
Glory days will continue on PS4.
Never realized they left... And such question when the company is stronger then ever, right in the brink of an amazing new gen of playstation consoles (as well as other products and acessories). Makes me wonder ,if the responsibles for the videocast aren´t a litlle bit in denial and butthurt that a non-american company is doing so well...just saying
The video actually balks at the question somewhat. They basically say no.
The PS3 story is probably the biggest comeback I've ever seen from a game console. I'd even say that it trumps the 3DS in improving over a terrible launch. Sony fixed the price, offered top-quality exclusives in Uncharted 2 and MGS4, supported indies on PSN and made PS+ a must-buy for PS3 owners. That kind of re-earned momentum is what will keep gamers' eyes on the PS4. At this rate, the "glory days" will continue for a good while.
It was an awesome battle. :)
just curious..... how many of you actually watched the video before posting a comment???
I like their responses. I think, if anything, there is a new golden age of gaming coming. The hardcore fanbase is large enough that things like Uncharted, Halo, and Zelda can flourish and games like Outlast, Hotline Miami, and The Unfinished Swan can sell well enough to keep the Indie scene afloat. Sony understands where the industry is right now, just as much as Valve.
Sony knows how to treat indies not just by having a lot of them on PSN, but by giving them a huge amount of publicity. Back at E3, Sony gave a big chunk of their press conference to the indie developers' showcase. That's expensive and valuable time; they could've given that time to a major third-party studio or a huge publisher. But they didn't. That's not just giving indies space on the storefront; that's full-on "we want you to succeed with us" support. The indie scene is growing bigger every month and Sony is doing a lot to contribute to that growth.
I don't understand why the PS4's (in terms of "lack of launch games") offerings like exclusive PS Plus content ie. F2P games and indies don't get more media attention as an added addition to "launch game" only on PS4 when a direct comparison is being made against the X1? With all taken into consideration the PS4 has a rather beefy lineup..imo!
IGN is the biggest starter of fanboy flame wars. Gotta get those hits!
Long gone. Anyone can see that.
Anyone with green contact lenses maybe. Of the big three, it's obvious which is riding the highest these days and it started at the PS4's reveal.
ps3 is on track to outsell wii in next 2-3 years so it will be third time in a row that playstation console is the best selling console of the generation but it won't demolish competition like PS1 and PS2 did.
Seems to me the PS2 had the most great games but I never owned one I was a PC gamer at the time. PS3 has some awesome games but not nearly as many.
Something must be broken at N4G because these sensationalist headlines that aim to do nothing but provoke anger keep rising to the top.
"Are the glory days gone?" Wouldn't this question be better asked of the Xbone and Microsoft? I know what Sony's first party devs will deliver next gen, more stunning product on a technically superior console. Microsoft? Microsoft? I have no idea what they're doing, they're out to lunch. They took all our xbox live gold money and built a box that's less powerful yet costs more than Sony's system. And dummies try to defend that somehow. Good luck with that, folks. You're going to need it.
On the threshold of the biggest launch of the best console ever made? Go away. You have no brain.
Whot's the matter IGN? Someone shovin monies up yer arse? ....unacceptable mannerisms ye have lads! No, in all seriousness....what is going here?
