Have We Lost Touch With the Gamer Inside

Now-a-days gaming has sort of become the “it” thing to do; whether it is talking about what game to buy, what game related accessories to buy, which console is better or even what achievements or trophies you have earned. All of these things have become distractions, deluding the image of what gaming truly is. What gaming truly means to you? Think back to when you started playing whether you were 2 or 22. Think back to that first time, what you were doing, what it truly meant to you, what you felt. That is what gaming is really about, not all those distractions that have come to occupy our lives now.

I'll save everyone the read..

{In a nut shell} This hippie hand holder thinks we take gaming to serious and wishes we could all go back and connect with that inner child who just wanted to play and have fun.

...and my whole collection of pinball tables on The Pinball Arcade. seriously doesnt this guy (at 23 y/o) understand that times have changed? there are gaming politics to get into, online gaming, easier access to view the ins and outs of the industry etc. gamers do everything nowadays, from journalism, events, online news, advid readers, fanboys, and im sure at the end of the day we all are about gaming and having fun. who's to say what one does or wants to devote their time to is wrong?

i guarantee you i play more retro, current, and handheld games than this guy aswell as pinball, have written more articles than him (probably, i started back in 08) and still get involved in the console wars/ politics of gaming. this article is an insult to true gaming fanatics imo. if one wants to sit at home with his friend and mom playing games, that is their prerogative. the gaming industry is better and more exciting nowadays than tv, movies and music culture imo. sure we miss the good old days but there is somthing called evolution and more people are involved in-and are gaming, bc of it. its like me saying the same thing bc i dont see ppl playing pinball machines anymore. when in fact we may have almost hit a third golden era of pinball because of evolution and technology due to it being avalible on every platform, and people get to play on the same tables as they did as a kid, recreated. did we lose touch with our inner gamer bc of it? no, it lives on because of it, just in an evolved form.
