Opinion: What Kind Of Consoles Are We Getting At Launch?

GI - "Many gamers are excited by what the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are capable of. It's sad then that at launch they won't be getting the systems they think they are.

We've gotten used to games being updated after release to fix problems or even enable features, but the fact that Microsoft and Sony's upcoming systems are less than what they can be out of the box on launch day feels like a different order of magnitude."

Wait a minute, just because you have to download a 300MB patch, that means MS was right about "always online"?
" it shows that Sony is daring fate to bite it and the console in the ass come launch day"
This guy is in full defense mode, doesn't he know that the One requires a patch also?

FacePalm........Dude copy this opinion from under a Snapple Cap. Just ignore it.

ha, ironic this because I specifically remember alot of folks swore just needing a internet connection for the X1's day one patch would be terrible cause alot of folks still dont have internet. Now that ps4 needs a initial patch its OK. -Actually it is but the hypocrisy is notable. Also the digital vision of always online is in fact where the market is headed, just like most other devices these days are doing yeah folks here will disagree while ironically while they are online but its true and a couple years from now when most games are better when connected and stats show most owners are overwhelming online gaming, skyping, apps, uploading, downloading, social interacting everytime they cut on their console it will once again be OK when sony joins us.

The difference Jokes is that the PS4 will still work out the box day one. If you want to download the patch later you can. Try to pop a game in the Xbox One as soon as you get it home and see what happens if you don't have an internet connection. You probably have to head to your nearest Starbucks or McDonald's...

Holy shit what???? Does he actually realise the implantations of MS's plans.

Hmmm... You can still play games after 24hrs and forever if you want with the PS4 without this patch same can't be said for the XB1. Yes the movie playback is sketchy as fuck and should not be needed but it's not as bad has if MS plans when in place you won't be able to play games for more after 24hrs without a internet connection, trading of games with be very limited and probably more expensive, borrowing games to people will be none existent & probably renting of games also.

One thing attacks the physical disc market and renders them as nothing more the license authenticators the other adds mostly online features to your console functions that *require* the internet to work. How does two now compare is completely laughable & ridiculous.

@StoutBEER

*implications* Fixed my bad..... Oh I guess as a human am not allowed to make mistakes once in a while /s.

So making one spelling mistake = retarded. Well done.

Man the internet is fun these days.....

On a article related note, this guy sounds like he's hoping one of them will fail. Which is just stupid.

OrangePowerz3828d ago (Edited 3828d ago )

At least it plays games right out of the box unlike some other console and the game disc could contain the firmware like it is the case with current gen games that the firmware update is on the disc and can be installed from it without needing the internet.

If he expects that the update will go wrong for some people he should assume the same for the Xbone that requires the updated to be used at all.

That both have a firmware update for launch isn`t a surprise anyway. The consoles will have been manufactured months ago while both Sony and MS will keep working on the software to have it as good as possible on launch with as many features as possible once the user updates the console.

Comparing either to the Wii U must be a joke, the Wii U took freaking ages to update without giving any feedback to the user how far the update is and I would be surprised if the PS4 or Xbone would be that slow to update or that user unfriendly while they do they update.
