In all honestly... I think the hype for the PS4 is deserved .. But doesn't deserve a buy from me for just one great exclusive launch game.

Agreed. I was going PS 4 first and then Xbox One. With some of the delays I have actually switched that order. I am getting both but staggering it over about 6 months. Let the PS 4 library build up.

Some people may think it looks like a ps3 game, but Cerny himself has said the game is pushing the ps4 hard with its physics calculations. Given that he designed the system, I'll take him on his word.

You can't just base things on visuals.
It may, possibly, look like a current gen game, (I don't think so) but I bet the Xbox One would have a nightmare of a time trying to run it as I assume the only high bandwidth memory (esram) is a dedicated frame buffer.

Edit: I'd also say that Knack, Minecraft, and Lego Marvel all day one means that ps4 should be a great choice for families at Christmas time.

Sure the Ps4 is good to he great.... But all the hype for its launch line up is almost laughable.

I mentioned Infamous... Cause that is the best looking Ps4 exclusive game I've seen, yet it couldn't make it to launch day.

And Knack?? Lol... Yes, I've seen the game play.... And the game is obviously for kids. Not only does it look like a current gen game, but it looks like it belongs on Psn.

The thing is PS4 will cost the same if you buy it now or a year from now, when all these games are out.
People are exited to get their hands on the system, enjoy the OS features.
There already are enough PS4 games to play.
Killzone by itself with its multiplayer are enough.
I know a lot of people who are getting ps4. Nobody really gave a shit about Driveclub being delayed. For cars fans there is Need for Speed: Rivals which is a launch title.And Yes multi-gen games DO COUNT, since most of them are extremely superior to their older gen version.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, F2P Blacklight: Retribution, Call of Duty: Ghosts, PS+ freebee Contrast, F2P DC Universe Online, FIFA 14, Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition remastered, Minecraft ,Madden NFL 25, NBA 2K14, PSN+ freebee Resogun, F2P Warframe, F2p War Thunder. And a Bunch of other indie games, and F2p games. If you think this is a weak launch then you are mentally weak.(No offense kid)

I'd rather play games at 1080P native 60fps no matter they are late by few months than playing 360 games like Rysr which were cancelled from 360 and moved to XB1, where they still look $hitty and run at 900P 30fps.

Knacks character design alone, and the huge amount of physics shown just to make up his body and animations is a step above what we ever saw from any current gen game.

I know most people don't care about that, but being a programmer, and insanely interested in physics programming, I was instantly impressed at what they were doing with the character at it's first showing.

The title at it's heart is really just a platformer game, which I enjoy, but discounting the game because the graphics aren't super realistic is not really seeing the whole picture.

Graphics aside, Knack is probably the only game which is going to show what the future will bring from a physics perspective at launch. All those pretty graphics are to be expected in other games, but physics is going to be what next gen is all about, as the new systems are actually capable of realistic, real time physics calculations.

Problem is people seem to overlook the fact that Sony has tons of first party studios. The Xbox One launch lineup may be bigger on exclusives NOW, but in a year I'm pretty sure MS can't compete in terms of exclusives. Most of their exclusives are timed third party things. Even the mighty Titanfall is almost certain to hit PS4 in the near future. I'm not buying a PS4 just to play for a month or two. I'm buying it to play for like 8 years or so.

And the launch lineup is more than enough for now (I still have a big PS3 and 360 backlog to keep me busy between PS4 releases). AC4 alone is gonna take a lot of my time.

Are we really surprised by this and kotaku NO lol.The more I read these pieces online I can't help but feel like most gaming sites seem to be pissed ps4 has what ever advantage it has. I mean if the 360 version of a game has just one more frame or a better texture or a 0.1 faster load time they jump for joy but just the thought of a ps4 game doing it to xbone we get these type of pieces smh im getting both day one both launches or just ok not great and so was every platform launch .

Laconic affair for Kotaku maybe, but I personally will be enjoying the hell out of Killzone, BF4, CoD: Ghost, and Resogun at launch.

Funny how they mention that most of the launch lineup is games that will also be available on other consoles. Why no mention of the fact that multiplatform games will look significantly better on the PS4? It's not going to be like the current gen where you can barely tell which version is best, PS4 is significantly more powerful than the Xbone and the differences will be easy to see.

well so far... its not showing at all. Even though im getting both consoles, i was still looking for the ps4 games to look 50% better than x1 and have seen no evidence of that. Actually i was looking at pics of "The Order" and it had graphics similar to a Resident Evil game meanwhile some were hyping it up as "Stunning Screenshots".

Starting to believe the PS4 is more hype than anything else cause they damn sure not showing it so far in the games besides Deep Down and Kill zone.

I have said this once I will say it again. You should not buy a console for its launch line up. I buy consoles on the amount of promise they hold. I know incredible games are heading to the PS4, just like incredible games are coming to the Wii U, and just like incredible games will be coming to the Xbox One. That being said I am looking forward to Resogun, Killzone, and the myriad of F2P stuff headed our way. This will in no way be a disappointing launch for me personally. Kotaku needs to cut this tilting from side to side crap and just call it even.

The article is logical, why should he praise it when he hasn't played everything it has to offer? Some people just have an insatiable need to have the "latest and greatest" even if it doesn't offer much initially...it's the same concept of people camping out in front of stores at midnight simply because they want to be the "first" to have it... I used to be one of those but as i got older i've became wiser and realized i could hold off on these things and wait for them to mature a little more.

Why am I taking out games from the launch lineup? Those are important games for the launch lineup, and I don't think it is reasonable to just base a launch lineup on the exclusives.

i believe the point he was making is that those games can be had on the current generation systems so they are not that big of an incentive to consider buying a next gen system right now....
you can argue that the graphics might be prettier but those games as a whole (minus any type of dlc) are not that different from the current generation...

this is one of the main reasons why i've decided to hold off since i can play those games without having to spend $4-500 bucks to do so... and if you buy it for the exclusive games than he's saying that they are few and not that impressive.

Well, I for one would love to have been at a Playstation event where I was able to play the PS4 three weeks before launch. Shadow Fall may look like Crysis 3 on a gaming rig, but I don't play on the PC so it's new to me.
And it's not just the games. The excitement with next gen and the PS4 is about new ways to connect and share gaming experiences. It's about sharing those moments in games that make us love gaming and have our friends watch them with us.
You don't buy a launch console because the games are going to be that much better, or because there are going to be a ton on day one. You buy it for all the other things it can do that you don't even know about yet.
And while he complains that there aren't enough non-cross generation exclusives, the fact that there are games scheduled to come out over the next year at regular intervals is better. Play Killzone now and when you get through with that, Infamous will be coming out. Then Driveclub will be released. Then The Order. And a smattering of indie games will fill in the cracks. You won't get the drought that you normally do.
The PS Vita had a huge catalog of games at launch, and they were good games. But then you had a lot of nothing for a long time and that led to the perception that there were no games for it. That perception still exists despite there being a ton available.
Anyway, I'm hyped. And I think a lot of other people are too.

These sites are seriously downplaying how fantastic Resogun is gonna be. Just cause it is a lower budget semi indie game it is not getting enough recognition even when we have seen such spectacular effects for the game.

Sure the PS4's launch library may not be as stacked in AAA games, sometimes the indie game will be just as enjoyable.

Is funny how many hypocrites here saying they were going to get the PS4 but now they changed to the x1. All those Liars ever intended to get the PS4 in the first place. Is obvious the negative intention that Kotaku have because they totally ignore and miss talking about all the day one exclusive games that will be available for PS4:

Warthunder
DC Universe
Injustice
Knack
Resogun
Killzone
Daylight

Plus many more. So the intention is clear but at this stage you cannot confuse any real and well informed gamer into that garbage Kotaku is talking.

Perhaps he is. What's it to you? Since Killzone is the only shooter, it's the only thing that appeals to you?

Killzone, Resogun and Rime are the three big ones for me. Drive Club's been pushed back, but I'll still get it. I'll be moving my DC Universe play over to the PS4, and since neither my PC or laptop are really meant for anything more than typical PC duties, I'll be trying out quite a few of the free to play games, too.

Not to mention there's still games to play and finish from this generation in my backlog. I'll still be getting a 360 and a Wii, and there's easily a dozen games on PS3, PSP, and Vita I need to get around to. Hell, I've got about 15 games on PS2 I've barely started. You think I'm really gonna be looking for something to play because a game or two gets delayed?

DO you only play what gets all the big hype? Do you never take a chance? Cuz that's what it sounds like: if it's not a big game, you don't even pay it any mind. Not really a gamer's mentality, if you ask me.

As many point out on Titanfall for Xbox One many of those aren't exclusive. I own Warfame, Injustice and DC Universe already. Most of the other indies are either already on PC will be the same time. So it comes down to Killzone and Knack. I will get both of those but not at launch. Not compelling enough for me personally. But 6 months down the road when the PS 4 has an incredible line up it will be a different story.

Wow, there are over 10 games at launch, I'm sure there are more. How many do you need? I work full time, have a family and spend time outside. Killzone and knack are enough to keep me and the kids busy through the holidays.

. The game doesn't look next gen at all, and it's geared towards kids.

But i understand the ps4 doesn't have any good exclusive game at launch besides Killzone.
