VGChartz writes: "Software sales in Japan fell to their pre-Golden Week ramp up lows this week. Less than half the total software sold last week was sold this week in the preliminary data. However, that should change next week as over four dozen games release to drive sales for the week after – the week ending May 3 (Golden Week). For now, Mario Kart Wii and Monster Hunter Portable 2G remain the top sellers though. Each game sold over 100,000 units this week. With Monster Hunter Portable 2G sales slowing down now, Wii software sold the most in the preliminary data once again. Also worth noting is the fact that PSP software has outsold DS software 3:1 or more in previous weeks, but the ratio has dipped to 3:2 in the data this week."
-This is the last quiet week before a large number of games get released ahead of Golden Week.
-The preliminary top twenty software sales equal less than 500,000 units of software, a figure which is sharply down from the last week when nearly 1,000,000 units of software were sold in the preliminary top twenty.
- Mario Kart Wii and Monster Hunter Portable 2G for PSP accounted for over half the software sold in the preliminary top twenty data.
