Nintendo's Wii Advice: Non-Gamer Demand High So Buy Early!

Nintendo is working its ass off for you, Joe Consumer. Though, that doesn't mean you should sit around and wait on your duff. Act early! Nintendo advises in a press release that hit today. The company announced that there will be steady flow of Wiis to ensure everyone who wants one will get one. That doesn't mean everyone will. Between its November 19th launch in the US and the year's end, Nintendo expects to ship 4 million worldwide, with the largest allotment going to North America. Even so, the company expects demand to outpace the supply. Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime says:

Wii is for both experienced and uninitiated gamers, and it will be available for the masses. Because of demand, we're urging shoppers not to get complacent. The level of demand we're seeing goes beyond the ordinary. Retailers are telling us a significant fraction of customers pre-ordering Wii are nontraditional gamers - people looking for a better way to play. And that's exactly what Wii is designed to provide.

The story is too old to be commented.

...and it only had a handful of good games. Apparently the GC wasn't much better, so it remains to be seen what the Wii has to offer. Since I'm not a fan of the party/kiddy genre (no Mario/DK for me, thanks), and I haven't played a Zelda game since the original, I really only see a couple exclusive titles that interest me. Maybe a couple years from now, when I can get a Wii for about $100-$150, and there are alot more worthwhile titles, I'll pick one up. The virtual console, I think, will end up being a bust, due to Nintendo's lack of experience in that market.

Don't use the I-don't-like-kiddie-games excuse. That's complete B.S, and we all know it.

There's much more to gaming than purty graphics and gore.

Who the f*** are you, tell me what I can/can't say/do?
I don't like party/kiddy games...PERIOD...regardless of the console it's on. The multiplatform games that are being made for the Wii will be slightly different, gameplay-wise, but not necessarily (or likely) BETTER. There just really isn't much on the Wii that attracts me right now; maybe in a year or 2, that will change. In the meantime, there's no less than 50 titles that I'll be buying for my 360, and most of them won't even be POSSIBLE on the Wii/GC V.2

GC is where I had most of my games. Followed closely by xbox. Love the ps2 also I did make good use of it, but dang it if GC wasn't a rockin system. Anyway the Wii is sure to sell alot and I can't wait to get my mitts on it ^^

i'll try to get one at launch. It has stuff on there that interests me.

But the article i think has truth to it. When i get customers asking what the wii is when they see all the signage and i explain the features to them, they get interested in it, if not for their kids but for them selves to try out. Once they get kiosks set up, then it will be interesting to see the word of mouth.
