Kickstarter has been an increasingly viable tool when it comes to promoting indie developers. Dreams, ideas, and skill are put to the test to show the world something new and exciting. Octopus City Blues happens to be one of those projects that just really stand out. It's visual style and classic point and click adventure mechanics has managed to more than enough interest to pass the Kickstarter goal (and then some). The more interesting part that it's made right here in the Middle East, or to be more specific, Kuwait. I was lucky enough to have a QA session with Firas Assaad, the man behind the project.
Ghost in a Bottle has recently released a demo for Octopus City Blues, a 2D adventure game set in a city built around a giant octopus. Octopus City Blues is scheduled for release in 2015 and will be available on Windows, Linux, OS X, and mobile platforms.
The gaming industry in the Arab world is extremely fragile. Resources and talent are limited, for one, and we occasionally tend to fall flat in the creativity department. Not true, apparently! A friend of mine has shared with me a game on Kickstarter called Octopus City Blues; a game that's being developed in Kuwait.
