From the Review (by Jorge Figueiredo):
"Who hasn’t watched movies like Ocean’s 11 or The Italian Job without wondering what it would be like to orchestrate and carry out a major heist? The idea of having a team of specialists who work like clockwork together to perform nefarious deed resulting in massive profits definitely tickles the fancy of many slaves of the corporate world, dreaming of an early, effort-free retirement plan. Overkill Software’s Payday 2 attempts to help gamers act out this fantasy without actually getting them arrested. While fun, the game fell a little short of my expectations due to unforseen circumstances; but it’s definitely something that you will want to try out if you have a chance – if only for the adrenalin rush."
GB: "Of course, Payday 2 has had its fair share of ups and downs as well, in spite of the success that it has enjoyed. For starters, the disparity between the game’s PC and console versions is a major issue that plagued the game for years on end, thanks to the frustrating optimization issues across platforms brought about by the Diesel Engine, which the game was developed on."
Payday 2 launched 10 years ago today, and a constant stream of updates still makes it worth playing ahead of Payday 3.
Starting today, Payday 2 is free at Epic Games Store. The free game offer runs until June 15. Once you claim it, it's yours to keep.
