Final Fantasy VI Coming To IOS/Android VII Could Follow

Square Enix will be releasing a modified version of the beloved Final Fantasy VI, originally released in North America in 1994 as Final Fantasy III, this winter for iOS and Android, long-time Square director and producer Takashi Tokita told Kotaku today. The game won't be a straight port. P

"It is basically like a remake of the original VI," Tokita said as he proudly revealed his surprise at the end of a presentation about the recent smartphone release of FFV and the upcoming mobile release of FFIV: The After Years. "But there have been some enhancements."P

"The battle systems have been altered for the other [mobile remakes] for Final Fantasy and VI will be the same. For instance grinding was an issue and people had to spend a lot of time leveling up. Now on the mobile devices the battle systems have been adjusted so you don't have to fight as much and can enjoy the game for what it is." P

Its gonna be funny when they run out of games to port whore. Dragonquest VIII for mobile looks hideous, the UI is something out of nightmares.

I'm as die hard a fan as they come when it comes to Square Enix, but lately they seem to be in the business of telling us what we want as compared to listening to what we are telling them. I just hope with the new management comes the sqaure of old.

and they were either crap or average at best....especially something like Deus Ex when we would of rather seen a new game for next gen console instead.

It's not the point, Sqaure Enix shouldnt be focusing on the mobile market, it's why there are mobile developers out there. If they want to make handheld type games then make some amazing games for the 3DS or PSV.

I don't really see how he's bashing them. The company in general just isn't what it used to be, criticising them gets easier as the years go by. All they do is tell us what we want and how we should like certain things, like how they've shoved Lightning down our throats when the majority of people don't like her....but then again I'm talking to someone who adores her and has defended the s*** out of FF13 in the past

Once again, another mobile game. I love square but im not buying this. I will just have to download it online like i did with their other mobile titles. I don't want to support mobile gaming. Now if you port deus ex, chaos rings 2 and your other mobile games to consoles or the vita. I will throw my money at you.
