Beyond: Two Souls' Graphics At Next-Gen Level

Eskimo Press: "Quantic Dream have truly showcased the raw power of the PlayStation 3 with their latest game Beyond: Two Souls. Despite running on 6 year old hardware, Beyond: Two Souls makes some games that run on high-end PCs look dull in comparison."

The facial animation tech is probably the best ive ever seen, technically on par with LA Noire but graphically better.

The 360 has held the PS3 back this Gen. Now before you disagree just stop and think. Look at how amazing and realistic all the PS3 Exclusives franchises have looked compared to Multi-plat games over the years. Third-party Developers never actually took the time to take advantage of the PS3 hardware. The real sad part about this is that this is not even the PS3 at 100%.

Hakoom4274d ago

i totaly agree..
i havent seen a 360 exclusive that looks 50% as good as sonys exclusives

abzdine4274d ago (Edited 4274d ago )

the graphical quaility and animations in the demo blew my mind.. this is the best looking game i have ever seen in my life!

Cage was talking about a PS4 version, i think it makes sense after all.
after all this i wonder if PS3 is really maxed out cause imagine 3rd party games looking like Beyond? OMG!

QuickdrawMcgraw4274d ago

I haven't seen a real 360 exclusive in years.

PLASTICA-MAN4273d ago

At Lukas_Japonicus, not "technically on par with LA Noire", it is way betetr because the faces only have at least 90 sensors and filmed with more than 60 cameras and unlike on LA Noire where faces where filmed alone (they even forced actors to put gummy like cream on their hair to stay fix so they don't have to render it as meshes or move it, all characters have hats and even if they don't or drop them all look like bald people) and the bodies alone thus leading not awckward and in synchronized movemenst between bodies and faces as they were not their own or possessed, moreover Facial movements in LA Noire are very scripted. None of that is in Beyond Two souls (many have hairs which move)and the devs did put too much emphasis on how actors faces were filmed while they move and act and the final result is a coherent and natural human like behaviour in all aspects, thanks to the techs and studio Sony provided for them.

since i already own the game
let me tell you
i swear...this game have ps4 GFx
i don't know how....it just look to damn good for 7 years old console

i thought TLOU is the best looking game on consoles
but Beyond look better and i don't know how they did it
sony's 1st/2nd party are using some kind of sorcery
it scare me what sony's studios will do on ps4

piroh4274d ago

Sony studios running their own marathon

Magicite4273d ago

Oh gosh I just cant wait for Quantic dreams PS4 game :D

PLASTICA-MAN4274d ago (Edited 4273d ago )

I can't wait to see what is their real next-gen project with a dedicated PS4 engine

Walker4274d ago

Best graphics on a console ! even better than most of next gen titles that we've seen so far !

abzdine4274d ago

it puts games like watch dogs assassin's creed next gen to shame.
graphics unbelievable. the animations, graphics and effect during manhunt in the woods in the demo are from another time!!!

abusador4274d ago

I will be buying this day one and the graphics are indeed next gen level, however those great graphics come at a price which is the restriction of control and the QTE gameplay.

Either way i played the demo and i understand how these games play and thoroughly enjoyed Heavy Rain so i will be enjoying this.

GarrusVakarian4274d ago (Edited 4274d ago )

Its not restriction, its completely intentional. Just in the same way a "normal" videogame has the player control every movement, this game has the player do QTE's. Its just the way the devs wanted it to be. Its called being unique and trying new things.

How can you call a developers vision and intention "restriction".

wishingW3L4274d ago (Edited 4274d ago )

developers mold their vision around the limitations of the system and it always been like this with console games.

indirect quote from Nomura about FFXV: "Mainly, Nomura seems excited about the fact that with the enhanced memory of the PlayStation 4, pre-rendered environments are no longer necessary. This is especially important in an Action RPG since there is much emphasis on speed and fast paced action. Thus, (mostly) everything is in real time, you will always have control over your character. This is so that the transition into battle is made as seamless as possible"

abusador4274d ago

Your insane if you think that the devs would be reaching this graphical fidelity if the game was more open and the controls were actually not QTE. There is a restriction! In order for this game to give players more control and not be so linear you would have a totally different game and the visuals would suffer. There is a trade off and controls suffer. It is a difference experience and you go into it knowing so. You really think that if the dev could make this cinematic experience and keep this graphical fidelity all the while giving the player complete control over the character and not making it QtE and linear they wouldn't do so because according to you the lack of control is purposeful (duh of course its purposeful bcus they know they cant reach that cinematic and graphical fidelity any other way)? Dont be so naive man, learn more about gaming dude.

Ryse suffers from the same situation and it is the reason why more lienar games in visuals trump open world games. The devs go in knowing what they can and cannot do and in this case they say "ok well give them a cinematic experience and high fidelity graphics but the controls have to be restricted in order to do so"

You the same dude that said that ppl shouldnt be entitled to an mp that works on day one, two, three, etcccc for GTA5 so i know where thinking lies lol

Your on auto ignore for now on.

Roccetarius4274d ago

I hope more people realize, that these graphics comes at a price. Chances are that's not gonna happen for a long time, sadly.

Pretty graphics is nice and all, but you need the control aspect as well.

Hakoom4274d ago

i finished the game and i could tell you some areas in the game look better than uncharted and the last of us

the graphics are dam epic..

tigertron4274d ago (Edited 4274d ago )

Beyond is the best looking current-gen game I've ever seen and it's running on what is essentially ancient hardware. Imagine what QD can do with the PS4 years down the line. Heck, just look at the Dark Sorcerer.

Ever since Heavy Rain, I've been supporting Quantic Dream. They put heart and soul into their work and create art.

That art might not be for everyone, but it's polished, well designed and engaging for those that enjoy it.

Dirty_Lemons141d ago

I bought Heavy Rain just to play on my brother's PS3 each weekend, travelled home from uni just to finish it. What a great experience!

Cacabunga140d ago

Heavy Rain was a masterpiece and one of my top 3 best PS3 games.
Beyond was solid as well but not as good.
Elliot Page is nonsense 🤦🏻

DafunkyRebel140d ago

JASON JASONNNN yeah that was a great game, wish there was a proper remake

Relientk77141d ago

This is actually my favorite Quantic Dream game. I thought the story, supernatural stuff, and cast was great and super interesting. Hopefully the show will be good.

cthulhucultist140d ago

Same here, This one i liked the most. The variety in scenery and set pieces was refreshing and the supernatural aspect was well executed.

I am a bit biased however because I love all interactive movie like games

This has been my most anticipated Star Wars game in years. Can't wait to see what they have done.

P_Bomb150d ago

I like the accessibility option in recent games like Dying Light 2 and RE4, where you can simply hold a QTE button instead of spamming like a madman. 😌

got_dam150d ago

I thought this was canceled.

Terry_B150d ago

Nope..they just revealed it way too early, said already at the reveal it will be released in years

Miacosa150d ago

Wow, blast from the past thought this was canceled.

shinoff2183308d ago

I didn't teakize quantic dream was still around.

CrimsonWing69308d ago

Why is it taking so long for this game to come out?

ChasterMies308d ago

The departure of the lead writer likely means the story is done. The trailer for this game is amazing. Hope it comes out soon.
