AMD's first quarter earnings: it's the economy, stupid

Via Ars Technica: "AMD just wrapped up their first quarter earnings call, on which they announced their sixth consecutive quarter of losses. The company's net revenue was $1.51 billion with a net loss of $358 million, an improvement over the first quarter of 2007's net loss of $611 million. 'The first quarter was a difficult quarter for AMD,' said the company's CFO in the call's opening. He went on to describe lower than expected revenues across all segments of the company's microprocessor business, before concluding, 'we are obviously unhappy with the results.'
